Hi all,
I'm relatively new to prepping. I know little about prepping, but enough to know what it is and what it stands for.
I've already had a browse through the forum as a guest and I've picked up a few things already - so I know I have come to the right place.
I am not part of a prepping group or community, I am pretty much on my own (albeit I have a partner I live with who still doesn't know).
Thanks for reading
Badger.

Re: Newbie
Welcome, we all start somewhere and I hope you find lots of help here, there's a wealth of knowledge here and I've learned loads since I joined the forum. The best advice I can give you is have a think about what it is YOU are prepping for, what is it that is likely to most affect your life now, whether that's economic or weather related etc and how many you'll have to cater for and whether you plan on staying put or running off. For myself (and from what others have said) its all too easy to have tried to cover too many bases too quickly. If you've got access to plenty clean water then a Sawyer straw is probably down your list (although we all want them
) so have a think about your priorities and work to them before broadening your preps.
You say you're not part of a group but I bet you are in a lot of ways, you'll know and trust people who might have all sorts of useful abilities etc just because they haven't got 6 months worth of stores and a gun locker that would make a Texan envious doesn't mean you don't know people that you can trust and would bring something to the occasion.
I hope you find what you're looking for here, its been a mine of info for me, even making me think about some of my own long held views about myself, just having a sounding board and seeing others posts both good and bad is thought provoking. Good luck with it all.

As Deeps says work out what YOU WANT!
Ignore the media and the glossy survivalist websites not many people in a day to day life will ever have any need for that 15" jungle survival knife or the carbon fibre cross bow......
Start simple and try and keep it that way....
think of the day to day cock ups that leave you stuck or in a worse place than you need to be...
take your average 10 mile commute to work think what if...
what if you crash? have you got a pen and paper in the car to take other drivers details?
phone charger (in car)?
torch, basic tools, spare bulbs, small first aid kit, a few snacks and things to keep the kids dry warm and entertained whilst waiting on the RAC?
you come home and there is no electric ... how will you cook diner?
or the mains water is off due to a burst water main 2 streets away.,...

welcome to the forum!
Thanks for all the welcomes.. Having asked myself if I am a 'bug in' or 'bug out' person then I have already considered that I am a 'bug in' person. For me, bugging out is high risk and something I would do as a last resort and/ or I needed supplies. It doesn't take any research or many brain cells to figure out that if you stay or run during an emergency situation it is entirely dependant on what that situation is for you to make that decision anyway. The only way anyone is this world will truly know what they will do is when we are put in those fight or flight situations. If I was a mathematician then I would be saying at this point that there are too many variables to plan in advanced due to ever changing circumstances. But having a plan is better then no plan at all.
Besides, I'm a glass half full kind of guy. As much as I prep mentally and physically I hope I am never put in that situation.
