Curently trying to decide whether to replace (or add to) the Alloy drinks bottles I have with a roll up water carrier. Quite like the look of the Nalgene flexible canteens http://store.nalgene.com/Cantene-96oz-p/2595-0096.htm Might be a good adition to a BOB or get home bag
I've had one of those for some years. They're brilliant, light as a feather, easy to fill and roll up to nothing at all. It's been all over the place and only sprung a leak after some idiot tried to stuff it into a knackered old trolley when it was full. A gaffer tape patch is holding well though! :D

Universal as in it has the least 'objectionable' foods in it.

Thanks all, I think I agree, discretion is the better part of valour in this case.
There's definitely no medical issue, and as Decaff has so graciously hinted at my mind is now determined that any suet was the vegetarian kind!

Funny really, I'll eat anything so have never had to even ask about that sort of thing. I even ate chocolate covered ants once and very much wish I'd never asked what they were :?

I have been trying to get hold of NATO forces issue artic survival tallow candles for ages now. I used some a while back and they were brilliant and I highly recommend them to anyone who likes these underrated (IMO) survival items. Anybody got any links to where I can purchase them?

Ebay sometimes has them.
You can also get tallow candles for stained glass, but these ones have no wick (you could always 'Thread' them if you have a long enough needle)

I'm planning on rendering my own tallow and making some this year

My Swiss+tech Utili-key turned up today, it was smaller than I expected, which doesn't make much sense if you think it's supposed to be key sized Dohh! Still it looks like it might come in handy on the keyring, and it was only a couple of quid off ebay.

My 2 new 25L water containers arrived today (as inspired by the water thread), cleaned, filled and stowed. It made me realise I need more bog roll for the zombie stores, they shouldn't have fitted in so easily, we're overdue a visit to costco. Its not like we've run out or anything but in my eyes we could do with a top up (or bottoms up  ).

Trying to keep the dehydrator busy, I've got courgettes in there at the moment. and this week I tried a couple of different cans of chilli. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the Tesco cheapy cans at 55p, maybe just my low expectations but the more 'premium' brands weren't twice as good for the price, I'd say 10% at most (to my taste) and while I added extra dried chilli, I tried them 'au naturale' first. Still not a patch on the real home grown stuff but I've discovered something else to stick away.

Finished canning split pea soup so on to sweet corn, got a bag in the freezer that I'm going to defrost and can up. Will give back some room in the freezer which I'm trying to empty and should the power go off I will at least have saved something!

Did you try Morrisons? The ones I've had from there were pretty good.
