It made me realise I need more bog roll for the zombie stores, they shouldn't have fitted in so easily, we're overdue a visit to costco. Its not like we've run out or anything but in my eyes we could do with a top up (or bottoms up  ).

Trying to keep the dehydrator busy, I've got courgettes in there at the moment. and this week I tried a couple of different cans of chilli. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the Tesco cheapy cans at 55p, maybe just my low expectations but the more 'premium' brands weren't twice as good for the price, I'd say 10% at most (to my taste) and while I added extra dried chilli, I tried them 'au naturale' first. Still not a patch on the real home grown stuff but I've discovered something else to stick away.
Did you try Morrisons? The ones I've had from there were pretty good.
No, I'll say not yet but I'm not Morrisons 'adjacent', I picked up a couple of cans of the Asda cheapy (55p again) chilli to try.

I have to say, Her Maj is getting better at spotting stuff though, a wee trip to Asda for a few essentials (booze and bizarrely leather sofa cleaner) led to a haul of tins, the above mentioned chilli and some other bits and bobs (nothing too exotic) and 9 packets of chillies that had been reduced to less than half price. I can never have too much dehydrated chilli. :D

After having explored fasting last year, I am now using my new years resolution to have a permanent (if I can do it!) intermittent fasting routine of 24 hours once a week and possibly to increase that with the passage of time. Lets see how I do with 1 day out of 7 first and then I will see if my body is happy with increasing that an doing maybe seasonal 5 day fasts or possibly 2 days out of 7.

One thing thats good about short term fasting is it makes the washing up bowl look nice :) (and also seems to give me more pleasant early mornings)

Bargain.

I am a huge fan of turbo flame lighters. I have 2 on standby for such emergencies.

Took stock of the freezer today, cleaned it out and updated my list so I can meal plan around what we have before doing a restock later this month. Pleased we don't have any Christmas type foodstuffs lingering although I did stock up on the sausage meat with caramelised onion  makes a fabulous burger when shaped and baked in the oven, or of course sausage rolls for a nice lunch time treat!

My AA and AAA batteries, all the old ones and the new sets of eneloops ones, are all packed together safely in a tin (a pretty tin!) with makeshift wadding between them, soon to be upgraded to purpose made from the material stash.

Yet more gardening. Honestly, if we suddenly had a Dig For Victory campaign going on, I wouldn't be able to plant anything - the brambles have run riot while I was under the weather last year. I was out there again today, and 3 sets of roots were recent enough that they came out of the soil when I tugged, but the rest will have to be dug out :(

OTOH, my lovely lemon balm is doing its thing already, and has reproduced to two other sites. And my rhubarb is a foot high!

Ordered, Received and Fitted some LED replacements for my incandescent torches.... Light outputs are well worth the extra brass.
I used these guys, fairly quick dispatch (ordered late Sunday, arrived today)and each 'bulb' comes in its own (labelled) pod

Finally made it to Aldi, bought celery, mushrooms and tomatoes amongst other things, so will be canning the celery and mushrooms tomorrow and on Thursday will try out my new Kenwood attachment with the tomatoes. Wish we had a Lidl closer to us as they had onions and peppers on offer this week.

We've got a bit of a schlep to Lidls, we've got Aldi handy but I've missed out on some of their 'specials' I've fancied because we didn't get there quick enough. Its a hard cruel world Decaff, hard and cruel. :P

The council are selling a bit of land not that far away from us and I believe its earmarked for a supermarket, there are quite a few of us hoping for Lidl, I've said it before but what the hell happened to the cool young hipster Deeps.

Aldi is not exactly close to me either but they had lazy Susan's, cupboard and fridge organising specials that are cheaper than Wilko but exactly the same! Tis indeed a hard cruel world Deeps  never mind, next week it's shallots which will be yum :D
