Been organising food space and sorting through bags of stored pulses and rice and pasta. Am going to take a sharpie marker to tins and packets and write exp dates on the front - good idea that one! Will make up a few batches of soups with the stuff that's past its best, and cook up whatever is too far gone for human consumption and mix it in with the chooks' mash. :)

This week I have a list of non-food items to pick up - loo roll & toothpaste are top of the list (have you any idea how much four kids can use?? jeez...), plus razor blades, shampoo, bleach and such. DH uses an old fashioned razor which takes flat blades - very useful to have around.

Got more veg sown/planted into the garden (put down beer for the ravaging snails!) and been looking at wartime ways of preserving veg without freezing or drying, so reading up on sandboxes and outdoor tattie clamps. :)
Been sorting through my pile of raw wool fleeces and getting the best bits ready for carding and spinning (not a wheel, spindle) to make into balls of wool for knitting and small weaving and naalbinding.
And been gathering my tanned bunny pelts ready to piece together into something quilt sized to make a warm blanket. :)

Planted some more veg and got some wood to build a frame to fit on the raised bed.

Finally picked up some bolt cutters

Started fixing up the small (very small) shed to house the genny

Used a 100Ltr bag of cheap compost to fill a depression in the front garden and seeded it. Unfortunately it now looks like I have buried someone in the garden....expecting a visit from the police

Found myself part of an unexpected trip to Costco today - oh my, and why have I never been before? Managed to stock up on a number of things, including some rather good deals on loo roll, rice and bottled water. You have got to keep a close eye on the price per kilo in there though - some things were ridiculously over priced. Obviously how they get their margins up.

Finished clearing one set of shelves, in spite of a lumbar disc which keeps seizing my back up. Shall get DH to stack it later.

I had 30 minutes in one and was £100+ lighter at the end

dug veg patches over and planted some potatoes and onions, bought a greenhouse to put salad veg and herbs in. Also got raspberry and blackberry bushes and added some more bits to food storage.
