Trangia liquid stove advice

I have one packed away somewhere, and have used a it a couple of times in the past.

Its ok for single person use, although not my first choice for a small occasional stove, but simple to use and there is not much that can go wrong with it. And also, for very little money

I have used mine with Bio ethanol as well, although does not seem to burn quite so hot.

if you want to use one of those , then consider chaffing fuel , its a gel in its own tin . simple to use and can last between 2 and 6 hours depending on which one you get .

Have a look on ebay/amazon for Swedish army cookset, they were going cheap a while back with a few cooking pots/pans. Dont know if the offer is still on.
Also check out making a penny stove on youtube, it's more or less the same thing but made for free (or nearly free) One thing to keep in mind is the fuel can be smelly and messy if it leaks, I've used them in the past but I prefer the cheap gas micro stoves (again from ebay) they were about £3.50-ish last time I looked, much cleaner and no smell.

I like trangia stoves, can burn a little sooty, and not great for simmering or use in very cold weather, but I find they do the job very nicely.
It's well worth getting one of the proper fuel bottles if you do get one, you can't see the flame if you're using it in daylight, and the trangia fuel bottles have a valve that stops the fuel in the bottle igniting if it's still burning when you go to fill it, they're also very robust, meths is pretty unpleasant stuff and you really don't want your bottle breaking and leaking into your food, and it stinks so you don't want it on your kit either.
There's ways round it without buying one, but IMO they're cheap enough that you might as well, think my litre one cost me about a fiver secondhand from ebay, and it's lasted years.

I have a few of the trangia bottles and yes they are very good, I have to say these things in my experience aren't so good for frying, not in the pans that come with them anyway.

I have one, which I use with meths. Doesn't burn for a long time, but is useful for making a brew / heating up a tin of soup etc.

I just checked and the Swedish army cooksets are still on ebay for £15 thats with the windshield and pot. Pretty good value if thats the sort of stove you fancy.
