Ultimate Bug out vehicle?

Post by SW_pheonix »

As per the title, what would be the ultimate bug out vehicle and what would be in it?

List your opinion for vehicle and why. e.g. is 4x4, has big boot, cheap fuel or runs on chip fat, easy to fix, whatever.
And list what should be in the bug out equipment in the vehicle.
This is for a non-specific situation, So my choice would be to have general equipment in the vehicle like first aid, heating, lighting, food, water, maps etc (the usual stuff) and then I would have specific bug out equipment in crates in the house. So for example if I was in Japan right now, I would grab the 'Nuclear' crate which contains Iodine talbets, resporators, NBC suits etc.

An APC would be nice, but is beyond the budget of most. So as we all have different pocket sizes and needs, maybe we could have a few suggestions for different budgets? Say £1000 all in, £3k £5k £10k+.
Even a mountain bike and bug out bag for those who are single or have a low budget. Perhaps bikes would be a much better choice for city dwellers, or anyone else who needs to get into the wilds where a car wont get?

Mountain bike with a trailer

Seriously, needs no fuel, easy to get around road blocks, less conspicuous than a lot of other motorised transport.

Easy to fix as well, trailer can carry what you "need", not necessarily what you "want", but bugging out as a last ditch attempt to survive should be seen as just that, last ditch attempt.
