The new allotment
Re: The new allotment
Ouch Decaff, ask your nice builder friend about her - she doesn't sound like one to encourage (so my disguise was rumbled, hey?
).
Re: The new allotment
Unfortunately, she lives downstairs to us... she knew we were applying for one (she knows EVERYTHING about EVERYONE) so she's kind of following us around at the moment. Not good as she is a woman that talks *at* you and isn't really interested in any reply.
I fear she is going to be a pain in the bottom when she sees any signs of vegetables being harvested!! She's insisting we grow some of her preferred vegetables, I didn't say anything just smiled and continued to dig with renewed vigour.... not quite sure how to handle her to be honest, don't want to make an enemy of her but at the same time I really don't want her bothering us and putting Mr D off of going over the Lottie.
Good news is that those John Harrison books have arrived today so lots of reading up to do.

Behind every great man is an even greater woman. She carried you, raised you and made you who you are.

Re: The new allotment
She sounds like exactly the sort of person you need to have around to offload the massive stringy green beans, surplus overgrown courgettes, split carrots, woodlouse-ravaged swedes and wooden beetroot onto!

Oooh good one. Sluggy, blown Lettuce and soft Rhubarb too.featherstick wrote:She sounds like exactly the sort of person you need to have around to offload the massive stringy green beans, surplus overgrown courgettes, split carrots, woodlouse-ravaged swedes and wooden beetroot onto!
Just a question. How is she getting in if the field is locked?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain~anon

Decaff, you sound a nice and polite person, just like my wife. You need to be more like me ; quote my wife; pig ignorant and rude! But hey! It works. NO is a difficult word to master, but when you do, it is empowering. Tell the neighbour to bog off.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Hand her a spade next time she turns up.
Re: The new allotment
Hi have taken notes for the upcoming rebuttals!! Thanks everyone, great ideas, I especially like the stringy bean and sluggy lettuce!!
I will put some by for sure
She had an allotment there a couple of years ago and only gave back one key, so unfortunately she can and will come and go at will
Mr D did say next time bring a spade and fork but she said no thanks my days of digging are past! Ugh, she's the same age as me!!!
Things will get interesting I think...

I'm sure if she gets me on a bad day telling her to bog off will be a pleasure, I can be pushed so far then *boom* you're in for it now

That's a good point Deeps, if she becomes troublesome I will certainly do that!
