The Hum

Hi Preppers

I know all preppers wear camo and foil hats , okay we don't but hey that's the perception and if that keeps the Sheeple happy then I am fine with that. But on a serious note regarding the foil hats I am seriously thinking of wearing one in bed.

Before you think I have lost it bear with me....The Hum ! I am sure many of you have heard of it if not actually heard it. For those who haven't heard it, it is like a distant engine running, but it isn't a sound you hear with your ears, you hear it inside your head. The Hum rumors have been around for a while and Google can provide a number of good resources for it.

I think I have worked out a few sources of my Hum.

1, Damn Submarines in the Loch or any nuclear powered piece of kit !!!#

2, Wind turbines, not so much now due to location change but in Aryshire we lived very close to Whitelee Windfarm.

3, Solar Storms.

Let me elaborate on the later one, Sunday night sat in bed reading my tablet and all of a sudden The Hum started up, it was like a wave of sound coming closer and closer. I remember saying to Mrs Dj damn Hum has started. So I switched to www.spaceweather.com and had a look, nothing then to http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/communities/sp ... nthusiasts, bingo huge solar storm rocking us, Sunday night/Monday morning the Aurora could be seen as far as Germany.

At least I know I am not completely crazy...now lets make a hat

Ive never heard the Hum, thankfully, but I am one of those that cannot sleep if it is total quiet, I have talk radio on for 30 minutes at a time to help me to fall asleep so I am used to the background noise of voices and sleep like a baby.

Not sure this would be of any use to you, some people listen to those CD's of rainfall or whale song, never tried them myself but they just might help!

I have never heard of it or the Bill Bailey program, but i work perminent nights and have found that while on shift i put a dvd on when i get in bed, put my timer on for 2 hours, i make my own noise in my room, so the postman and the guy next door with the punch bag dont keep me awake.
i use the same dvds over and over, it becomes familiar and i have no problem getting to sleep.

tinnitus is more of a ringing noise i get it occasionally thanks to all the years i worked in clubs.. the hum is different i always put it down to being the background noise of the world never really wondered where it came from or what caused it. but from 15 years working nights i can honestly say its a thing and happens in the middle of nowhere as much as it does in cities

Not always. My father describes his as like a leaking high pressure airhose. He spent 12 years in a destroyers boiler room without hearing protection!

I some times get it it. (loud music and gun fire without hearing protection. Not usually at the same time ) and its like a soft wooshing sound. Usually only when I am very tired.

I would suspect that some type of electromagnetic radiation could be a factor. Some people seem to be more sensitive to it than others.

And those submarines do make a lot of noise! I remember being woken up by them making their way down gareloch

Yep had it a few months back , really annoyed me , I thought it was a streetlight or somesuch, put music on quietly on my tablet that I use as a clock in the end..........

But downloaded some 8 hour "Theta Wave" music from youtube and use that now, I dont know if it works but am sleeping well at the moment, I like it as its very low key...........
