This weekend I will be cutting and stacking firewood for next Winter.I have a ' holding' area for big logs and trunks, which then get processed for the Winter log stores.Whilst I am doing that my new dehydrator will be doing its thing with a load of bananas as a trial run. The dehydrator is part of my long term plan for the pantry. We eat differently now to when the girls were at home, so a lot of foodstuffs will be phased out or donated to the local food bank.

The garden will play a bigger role in our storage this year, and has been reduced in size ( but increased in intensity) and accommodates only the things my wife and I eat.

Scrap run done finally

Steel 7.5p /kg 1200kg £90
Aluminium 43p /kg 42kg £18
BATTERIES 50p/kg 326kg £162

So £270 in coffers , less £10 for fuel

Quids in
But here's the best thing
Drove in unloaded batteries and aluminium weighed it drove onto weighbridge in to yard unloaded
No issues
Went to weighbridge
Got weighed out
Went to office , have you got I.D. no I said , oh well we have to pay you in CASH ??!!!
Huh?
If you have no ID they cannot prove your are you so cash only
So if I did have ID they could pay by cheque ?

So there you go .
I'm still shaking head .

Add another 200ltr to my water storage.
Buy some more batteries with 10year life span
And ponder where I can store another 3 months worth of food - not sure I want to start digging the back garden up yet but having said that it could be a very secure and well hidden.

Buried preps anyone?

That's because it was off the books

The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishing of Offenders Act, 2012 requires that the buyer of scrap metal identifies the seller. Whilst this does not specifically require photographic proof of ID, the Scrap Metal Dealers Act released in Spring 2013 does.

After a combinatin of illness and injury over the winter I am back at exercising. I am planning on doing 5 miles cycling 4 - 5 days a week and adding to that the outdoor gym plus dumbells at home probably 3 days a week

Just replenished the wood pile once again. Ready for next winter.

How is the dehydrator going Jansman? Have you done the banana chips yet??

Decaff, I am sorry I should have checked in! This weekend I will have a go at it. We had a roofing problem here at Chez Jansman and I had to get up there and sort it out. I promise I will dehydrate something!

Roofing problem chez Arzosah too! Finally fixed yesterday, 8 days after the storm that did it; we had maybe 3 downpours, including one of thunder and lightning, in those days, and the final tile was put in place during a hailstorm! It gave me a new appreciation of the need for building skills if ts were to htf ....

Glad your roof is now sound Arzosah. The most important part of the house.I always keep sand and cement around and few slates too. The insurance would pay of course, but sometimes the job has to be done swiftly.
