Halo to everyone,
Recently back into prepping after a really long break, I was a ...hmm... thug prepper(?) 25 years ago...guns, knives, axes, swords, bows, etc; with a few weeks MRE supplies and the somewhat laughable (looking back) idea that 2 weekend survival courses had prepared me for TEOTWAWNI.
This time round I'm focusing primarily on short term survival during disasters, epidemic, civil unrest and the like but I'm slowly adding skills and equipment for the less likely (I hope) but longer term scenarios. Focus has shifted to slowly building a supply of long shelf life food to get through a few weeks to a few months. I'm refreshing my first aid skills, added a short course in blacksmithing, adding radio skills, picking up as much as I can on fishing for food (not sport), bushcraft, hunting, animal husbandry, slaughter, etc (more realistic self sufficiency). Though I still believe you have to defend what you have but defend not go looking for trouble.
I'm primarily aimed at Bugging In but there are so many variables that I feel the best I can do is add skills and supplies based on the more probable events; if things are THAT much worse, I do have lists of locations to 'acquire' enhanced supplies. Large transport, solar power, seeds, short-mid term food supplies, tools; then I guess it's time to find a suitable location but would that be offering to work on an existing farm that's survived or looking for a newly 'vacant' (epidemic not my handwork). I'd prefer the former, there must be million and one things that a farmer knows that I'd have to learn the hard way.
Anyway I've enjoyed reading the thoughts of the other forum members for a while now, so I thought I'd raise a hand and make my presence known.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
