Can anyone recommend a basha, or similar? I'm not fussed if it is new or ex-military, as long as it does the job.
Thank you.

Dd or GENUINE MOD surplus. There are a lot of mod/ army copy's but they are nowhere near as robust.. The mod ones are strong enough to use as a stretcher!

Re: Basha
Another vote for DD here, there are lighter ones around but I think they strike a good balance between weight and durability, MOD ones are stronger, but if I remember correctly they're heavier and a bit smaller.pseudonym wrote:DD Hammocks 3m x 3m is a sound tarp, good value had mine for 7 years.
DD also has sewn in webbing loops for attachment (loads of them) rather than grommets, I've found grommets tear out eventually.
Another small piece of advice, get a tarp that's bigger than you think you need and square, the 3x3 ones give you lots of versatility on how you set it up, including fully enclosed tent like setups for really bad weather without any trees around, and most of those are easier with a square rather than rectangular tarp, you can generally still do them with a rectangular one but it usually takes a bit of messing to get it to work.

D&D 3x3m or british army, lots of desert camo ones for around £20, but the D&D is great.

I only have an ex army one myself but if you are looking for "anything" then at least make sure it has reinforced eyelets/loops on the corners and edges and also loops along the long centre length.
So many "tarps" or "bashas" are sold with very limited hanging or tie-ing points.
