You need a meter on the liquid take off if using in a road vehicle, then declare it to c&e and pay the appropriate tax. Beware not all tanks have a liquid take off.
Just out of interest what are you paying poppypiesdad per litre or per kg? The cheapest road duty paid is 36.9ppl in Birmingham so about 72p per kg

Re: Generator question
We are currently 34.5p per litre.
That's from Johnston's Gas based in Scotland
They will not supply domestic customers with a liquid take off point due to health and safety .
You would need to have compex electrical instillation done for the pump.
It's not just a matter of a hose valve and connector .
Well I did ask.
However you can take a baynot fitting for vapour off after there shut off valve outside the house to connect a generator too , obviously for all the H&S gurus out that , provided that it is installed by a qualified and certified gas fitter with the correct modules on there gas fitters card.

Re: Generator question
Thanks for asking, that's a pretty good price.
I take it that's with one of their tanks on rentàl?
I guess they must all have their own rules as one of the autogas installers I know has a liquid take off with hand pump on their home tank to run his lawn tractor, not sure if it is his tank though.

Re: Generator question
Tank rental is £60 a year ,
We're on a monthly direct debit to spread the cost we currently are £120 a month
The tank belongs to them
Very rarely will you get your own tank . As they need tested at 5 year and 10 year and if it's not there tank they won't test it .
Can see the point when you've got a 1800kg air fuel bomb if it goes pear-shaped

Re: Generator question
I'm paying 42p per litre, delivered, from Calor. I think I'll phone them and have a moan about the price.

Re: Generator question
You do know you don't have to use Calor to get your gas
When they de regulated electricity and gas . They changed the law that tank gas and oil companies allow the customers to shop around
So your tank rent is still payed to the owner of it . But the gas can be from elsewhere.
FYI the tank fill is standardized through the industry.

Re: Generator question
I just thought I'd report back on the generator purchase.
I went ahead and bought one of the petrol Jennys they were selling in Lidl.
That maybe a little bit of a risky purchase as the quality may not be too great, but for 179 quid I figured it was worth a punt.
I won't get to road test it until I get home late next week. But I'll keep you posted on the result.
