Glad you got it sorted mate, it sounds like you're well on top of it for you next one, handy byproduct for the tatties too. Kudos for going for it.
Cheers, fella. It was worth doing so that when we move we can expand the project. Once I've harvested the fish, what I should be doing is selling the nitrated-water as liquid fertiliser, I've got 1500 litres of it!

It sounds great, Briggs! I hope you can take all your equipment with you when you move?

Well this week exactly that scenario happen to my little family in the form of a £500 vet bill. I'm very pleased to say that we didn't need to borrow any money as even though the situation has left us with very little cash till the end of the month - thanks to our preps we don't actually need very much - maybe a couple quid for some fresh bread and fresh mushrooms (possibly...) other than that we are covered.

The cat is fine - she had a tumour on her bum removed that luckily turned out to be benign :D

Well done Allycat! This is the sort of thing I prep for too. The everyday hiccups that appear in every day life, mind you it is depressing how often my emergency piggy bank needs to get raided but thank goodness it's there, even if it is smaller than I would like, as you say that's what the stores are for - eating when needed!

@Arsozah - Yes, I hope to dismantle it and reassemble once we've worked out where we are going. We could be off-grid for electricity and water to start with so reluctantly I have to agree with Mrs B that the aquaponics is not a priority, it's a shame but she's right. As usual. Sigh. The up-side is, I should be able to get it up and running again in the future with a better design this time.

@ Decaff. As we are now in a post-brexit free-trade world, I find myself with an trout mountain. I'm willing to trade for marmalade :-)

You see, that's where I feel we've been let down by our politicians. Not one of them has mentioned the trout to marmalade exchange rate. I don't know why I vote.

We have had a total potato fest this weekend, eating through the super-nitrated spuds which quickly outgrew the test IBC grow bed. Overall, it wasn't a bad project to try and I'm looking forward to expanding it someday.

I've had a review of my EDC with the aim of making it more compact. I find it tends to grow over time, like my waist size does.

Thank you! I have some long term dried stuff mylar'd and hidden away but mostly its the more mundane things that I prep for - like this, or job loss. or power cuts etc. Its very calming to know we could cope if stuff like this comes up. Obviously I'd like a bigger piggy bank to raid - but dont we all

Hmmm... low sugar marmalade? There could be a whole range! Lemon would be fab, as being extremely tart, you wouldn't be able to open your mouth wide enough to eat anything else 8-)

On a serious note though, im glad the aquaponics worked out great, heres to getting it moved and up and running again well done!

Make it into a belt kit, then it can expand along with your personal circumference!

;)
