Re: Dry Canning.
I've seen a few of her videos, she's good. You can buy buckets of grain for long term storage, not sure how many jars you would need to buy to store say a months worth of grain, quite a lot!

Just a thought but what do you think about the beer fermenting buckets any good, at least maybe for a year or two ?
Re: Dry Canning.
To be honest, I have no idea about those, I've never fermented beer, but I would certainly advise that you do good research on it. There are certain lids recommend for food storage and I'm sure the buckets also have mylar bags inside containing the food, which are water tight and air tight. I'm sure someone here can give more advice on this subject. I would go with the thought of would this be safe for my young children/grandchildren to eat food from this storage in say five years time? We tend to think more of the safety of the young than ourselves where food is concerned.cornerstone wrote:Decaff wrote:I've seen a few of her videos, she's good. It was inspired by Crystal on You Tube easy home storage just mainly to get stuff in hard tubs that has a quick turnover

Re: Dry Canning.
I think the main function of the bucket is to protect the mylar bag(s) and to add a second layer of 'air-tightness'
Brewing tubs don't tend to have such a close fitting lid (and some even have vent holes) due to the build up of CO2.
My local bakery sells the lidded buckets that they get some of their bulk ingredients in (apple filling, jam and WHY), those close down air and water tight..... I tend to pick the square ones as they fit on shelves better
