Poncho Roll
Does anyone know of a modern equivalent to the 58 poncho roll? Something a bit lighter, a bit less military? Failing that, can anyone recommend a molle pouch that will take a heavyweight 58 poncho folded up? 5.11 6.6 or 5.11 6.10 size perhaps?

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I've got a set of 58 webbing knocking about somewhere, I wonder if the fitting could be attacked to molle somehow? Those pnchos were solid but heavy.

You used to sweat like a Marine in a spelling test in one of them, there's loads better waterproof gear out there now, even ponchos have evolved. They did make good basha's though.sniper 55 wrote:I've got a set of 58 webbing knocking about somewhere, I wonder if the fitting could be attacked to molle somehow? Those pnchos were solid but heavy.

"Marine in a spelling test"!
If you're handy with a needle and thread, perhaps you could knock a roll up from an old trouser leg?

Hi yes I have a dpm version sass nbc kit roll.
some backpacks come with a detachable roll so might be worth looking on ebay for that.
as far a a shelter goes I prefer to use a light weight basha and a waterproof jacket.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I've got a soft-shell waterproof poncho that supposedly folds flat and fits back into its own pocket. Yeah, right, sure it does. It looks like a over-inflated rugby ball. Unfortunately, I can't sew all that well so I'm going to have a look around this weekend to see what I can knock up/butcher from old pouches and velcro straps. I'd use my 58 roll but I don't really want to look like a spare nork lugging that around.

Hey Briggs, i know the 58 ponch roll you are talking about, but what do you actually need, is it something with 2 straps going around the poncho that can attach to your pack?
