storing your food preps

Post by preppingsu »

Having just added some more items to my food preps (monthly shop arrived this evening) the shelves I have are overflowing, disorganised and bowing (sp?) in the middle. They are a set of plastic shelves picked up from Homebase last year and have been Ok up 'til now.
Not sure what to do next to improve my storage organisation and area. Don't want to/can't spend too much money, OH is handy with woodwork. I would like some better way of storing cans, instead of building towers!!
Any ideas would be gratefully received :)

Ok for tins, but for bigger stuff I just use the floor

ooo, did you design and build that yourself? That would fit perfect in the space avaliable and we could add shelving above for lighter items.

Nah, I pinched it (the photo) from somewhere else, we are planning an upright version with automatic rotation by always taking the front can on the lower shelf the tins roll down (rotating them physically) from the shelf above, I have been looking for the picture I have somewhere to show you the planned storage rack.

That looks easy enough to build, would be good for all the tins. Would just need to decide what to do for jars, packets, boxes etc

I shall show my OH as he has some spare time now and get him to cost the job.
Thanks, gnoley.

Su if he's a dab hand building yours he could go into a little sideline selling food storage racking!

trouble is, you can never recoup the cost of time - we've thought about bespoke furniture as a sideline but it would be just too expensive. But if he can do this cheap and quick it might be a possibility. Got to do something - my box room/office/storage room is such a mess!!

It doesn't look too difficult - but you're looking at the Queen of 'No More Nails' who just glues everything together!!!
