Well the Olight i3e EOS mono arrived today, very very light in weight and hardly bigger than a AA battery (see pic) couriously it's only a single mode but this version is apparently sold by Olight (I was expecting a 3 mode) It's seems about as bright, near enough as the Thrunite Ti3 and battery life is claimed as 35 minutes with alkaine or 60 minutes NiMH.
Again a very soft spread beam, but this has a slight hotspot in the centre, and it's noticable "colder" than the thrunite. I haven't had chance to try it at night yet, but like the Thrunite I can't see it throwing a long way, bags of light for finding your way about or fixing the car etc.

That sounds like it could be identical to my Ti2. Good little torch - still my fave. I'll know to avoid the Olight though, no point owning two identical torches.

I gave them both a spin last night, they both throw about the same, but the Olight looks slightly (it's close) brighter at a distance, probably because of the slight hotspot. They both lit up the trees about 25 yards away, with loads of light spread. I'd have no problem moving across country in the dark with either, bags of light, and enough spill to see the sides of the track or low branches etc easily. The thrunight was bright enough on low power to move around as well, although it's didn't light up anything like as far away, maybe about 10 yards? ish but it's still easily useable to move around cross country at night.
To be honest I'm amazed how much torches have improved over the years, these tiny keyring lights are brighter than my old 3D maglight, I wonder what they'll be like in 10 years time....

I've done a runtime test on the thrunight Ti3 and I got a little over 24 minutes with a new duracell (from the pound shop) then the light which had stayed pretty consistant dropped down a lot, I then turned it off and back on to low power and it was still on after another hour, at which point I gave up the test.
So it seems the best part of half hour on full but then you've still got another hour-ish (maybe a lot more) on the low setting, thats handy because you don't just totally loose your light when the battery runs down you just loose full power at first.
The torch did get quite hot towards the end of the 24 minutes though, but once on low power it cooled right down, not sure if thats the led or the battery getting hot.

I wonder if anyone has noticed this too?

Mine is in a pouch it doesnt come out very often, but i got it out yesterday as i have found some leather to make the pouch for my Leatherman Wave that incorperates the torch and a fire steel.

So i check it is working and the head feels really stiff, normally i can turn it on and back it off till it turns off then just cycle through the modes by pushing the head down, but i was not able to do it?

Because i was just using it at that moment to size the peice of leather i did not think much of it, but thismorning i thought i would see what it was all about.
It was stiff to turn, i could not push it down, although it was working fine, so i twisted the head right off, just as the tread releised it from the body there was a "pop" because there was a release of preasure, there was so my first thought was "well i now know it is waterproof, but then i thought that the battery must have gone bad, but it was fine? :?

Very odd, i put it back together and it works fine and i can now do the push thing to cycle the modes. It is not a cheap £land battery but is a "proffesional" battery from work, im pretty sure they are made by Duracell.

Any ideas?

The head on my thrunite has always been a little stiff to turn, still easy to do one handed but a fair bit stiffer than the olight. I just checked mine and I had no hiss or pop, I'd suspect the battery in your case. These little torches can get pretty hot if they are on long so maybe it's caused some pressure build up or gas leakage from the battery? Just guessing.
