Hi Folks,
Nothing major here but I have 2 foam sleeping mats that i want to laminate together to make them more comfortable to lie on, probably using some kind of contact adhesive...
Seems a waste to not use them and buy something else although the cost of adhesive to do this may blow the project out of the water
This is for use at home indoors mostly in case I have to kip on the floor if the sprog is poorly (but may also go in the car/van if i'm travelling long journeys for GHB reasons or similar purposes).
Don't think the final article will be exposed to extremes of temperature so nothing too specialist needed to do this but I'm wondering if anyones done this?, can see a problem with it like the adhesive eating the foam away etc..
Can anyone recommend an adhesive?
cheers all and happy prepping !

I've used similar, worked well down to -15 C.

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Re: Kit Modification - Joining two sleeping mats together
thanks, tape???? - now there's a good idea, didn't think of that much cleaner than adhesive...
Re: Kit Modification - Joining two sleeping mats together
What about stitching them together with parracord or twine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-or-2-x-3-St ... UDxgIUd-eQ no mess and possibly longer lasting?
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
Re: Kit Modification - Joining two sleeping mats together
Some contact adhesive might melt some foams, I would guess theres lots of different types. Personally I'd use something like carpet tape or duct tape, should be plenty strong enough for house use.

If you have or are going to have more than one kid, it might be worth just buying two more sleeping bags that fit together: a left-zip and a right-zip one of the same make. You'll always need the singles, and your kids like mine now will love the doubles when camping together.

I sleep downstairs too when the kids are coughing or if I have a very early start.
I put down some of those interlocking play mats (also go under the paddling pool in summer), a yoga mat, a fleece and a duvet - lovely!
I wouldn't join two sleeping mats together by any means. You'll lose the versatility of having two sleeping mats, and the conjoined mats will never roll up properly or neatly again. Try it with a couple of sheets of cardboard to see what I mean.

Just leave them loose, and when you stack them to sleep, wrap 'em in a sheet and they won't go anywhere.
