Hi, South Wales newbie here.

Post by wheresthefife »

Hi.

Just a quick obligatory introduction post. I've developed a bit of a desire to prepare recently, for all sorts of reasons - the main one being that it just seems sensible. Starting gently, building up some food/water reserves, which I guess it can never hurt to have.

About me: Average guy, but there are some things that could help me if I ever find myself in a spot of bother;

Spent a short time with the army so have some basic understanding of some handy skills.

I've always enjoyed the outdoors, and grew up in the sticks, so have some experience of camping, hunting small game, and a fairly good knowledge of local edible plants etc. (Although my thoughts lean more towards bugging in unless it became impossible to stay).

Live in a small village a long way from big population centres (although I spend a lot of time in town - if something happened very suddenly I could find myself there.)

I'm an ex nurse and a medical student - a good way to go yet before I'm a doctor, but have a little understanding of handy first aid stuff and basic medicine - I could suture a wound in a pinch, and probably treat some basic things in a SHTF type situation. In a few years this knowledge will have grown to more useful levels.

Looking forward to learning a lot from all you people! Thanks for having me here.

Hello mate, funny you being a student doctor from S.Wales. Looks like we've got a qualified Doc from Cardiff on another thread.

There's a few of us from local, I was thinking of organising a meet, probably in the new year sometime.

Welcome!
Prepping seems to attract the kind of folks who know that things can sometimes go wrong and we should be ready when they do.
For me it is a return to the world where sensible people always put a little bit aside for a rainy day.
