I'm a bit of a horologist (interested in watches)

and this Topic was prompted by something Sniper 55 mentioned, "I could live without my phone or watch, but I do like my basic pocket kit." so I got to wondering what on your wrists?

before I disclose what I have id be interested to learn what every one else has,

Watching time go by, Citizen "H"

Ok my so day to day watch is a Casio world time, and its been with me almost 30 odd years, Ive changed the battery only once! true, and such is fate the week prior I was harping on how great it was and the battery lasts a life time.... bla bla bla.. and then it goes flat on me? the git! £5 later its running again, the added bonus was it didn't cost me anything, I found it whilst at Arborfield garrison, I posted notes up every where and no one claimed it, it was meant to be, my other watch is a 1968 Rolex Submariner 5513 (no Date) this is for best occasion's only, it would be obscene to own a SBS MOD Rolex considering the price but to see one in the flesh would be great and or if anyone has one they no longer want.............. yeah in my dreams.

however I now read that the £7000 Rolex's there issued with now days is to stop and they will now receive a £1,000 Citizen watch instead. Across the military other specialist watches issued in key jobs have also been downgraded.

Time seems to move on and over everything, Tick Tock, Citizen "H"

Because it's cheap and I won't feel sorry if I damage/lose or whatever. I'll just buy another one.

BTW it keeps time very well

2001 Rolex Datejust with the 18k white gold bezel from the factory rather than an add on (they call it a Rolessor or something along those lines) that's the smaller cased version, not the Datejust II that has the larger case, too big for my taste.

If I'm doing DIY, out on the boat or doing anything where I don't want to risk wearing the Rolex then I currently have one of the Casio marine range with the tide chart and a ten year battery, I treat them as disposable, I buy whichever one (although always Casio,) that gives me the best watch for thirty or forty quid and then wear it out and replace it.

My everyday watch is now an Apple Watch 2, however I also use a TAG for 'special occasions'.

Like JDandCoke I swear by that Casio watch. Had one for years, taken so much abuse when I was in the forces. Just never fails or loses the time. Battery seems to last forever as well!

Went back to watches a few years back after 30 years without, a couple of cheap expeditions at first , then a nice G-Shock radio controlled tough solar which was my daily user until a month ago when I bought a Martian notifier on offer for £20, had a new job as site manager at a school, so cant use phone in corridors and usually have hands full of keys torches etc, and its a great piece of kit, vibrates when messages , calls or whatever apps you want appear on phone, so great just to glance at my wrist, I never liked the smart watch look but these are quite understated....

Also got a leash function to find phone

Have to confess also like clocks watches etc. Currently it is a choice between:

Seiko chronograph on my wrist right now. Been using it for nearly 20 years.

Alternative is a mechanical self winding watch also had it for years. the big advantage no batteries to go flat.

Just my personal preference, nothing official, but I'm not generally a fan of that.

Everyday is my Fitbit, I have a couple of G-Shocks but really want a good quality wind-up watch. I think in the event of the end of the world anything digital will run down with time (pun).

I quite like that, first smart watch that I would consider wearing, it's not waterproof though is it? I can't find the info and usually if they don't say then it isn't.
