Unfortunately in a SHTF situation where there is no health care system left people with health issues such as cardiac, respiratory, psychiatric or neurological are not going to have it easy at all.
As we have alluded to previously with diabetes. if you need medications and food to survive now, look at the difficulty with no med or food.
now take it one stage further, someone with COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, they require daily medications, long term oxygen, nebulisers to breath.
In the SHTF situation none of this may be available, they will die.
Imagine that the situation has caused contaminated air supply as in the 9/11 attacks, everyone will be affected, depending on the contaminants protection required may be a dust type mask or may go to full breathing apparatus.
Unfortunately this is not feasible, there is not enough b.a for everyone or cylinders and no way of replenishing supplies.
one word on dust masks and 9/11 In that situation everyone went on instinct, airs bad grab a mask, no one can be demeaned or reprimanded for those actions, but I personally would go with a good fitted either full or partial face respirator with cbrn quality filters.
the increase in people developing respiratory issues from the situation will add to the medical case load.
I dont want to seem judgemental or write people off, actually after seeing Patriotnurse on youtube I initially became pissed off, but on reflection some of her views are correct, however I think if you prep with this focus then you may have a chance.
I make these remarks as someone with a disability and have 2 immediate family with disabilities reducing their mobility. My personal plan is to bug in and try and form a community, this may not be every ones plan.
Please keep the thread going, I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am.
