Let me just ask a serious question. Do you really believe that your scenario will happen in your lifetime?
I don't think it will, therefore I think you're being a bit melodramatic(you did ask) However, if you believe you need it, then have at it.
May come in handy? avoiding a rogue roof tile perhaps.
Im just hoping for the best and preparing for the worse.
