This morning I added a large screw-gate carabiner to my EDC rucksack.

I was away at the weekend and managed to attach my coat to the outside of my rucksack using the exterior loops. But I thought about securely fastening objects to the outside of the rucksack and this morning decided to grab my spare carabiner that just sits around at home. It weighs virtually nothing, and could come in handy should I need to securely attach anything.

Might look at a few alterations to the EDC, now the warmer weather is coming.

I think my preps for this week (and the next 100 or so) is to get a bit fitter. I did a fair bit of digging yesterday and laid some paving slabs...when I woke up this morning I could hardly stand up straight.

I do plenty of walking with the mutt so i'm fine on that side of things, but a bit of hard graft and i'm walking around like a 70 year old :(

Ah well, at least getting fitter is a free prep

Have been reading about this recently CC and those are exactly the sort of activities you should be doing. Functional fitness its called apparently, they say that going to the Gym and aerobics classes is all very well but if/when shtf you need to be able to chop firewood and carry it, spend a number of hours doing gardening chores, walking for a period of time with a fairly heavy rucksack etc.

Thanks Lisa, I had never heard the term before but I just googled "functional fitness" and there looks to be quite a lot of info around about it. I will check it out.

We don't even get that Sue, because we're too rural. we got a free -whether you wanted it or not - compost bin ! Let's wait and see how much cutting down they do in towns- added to a hot summer = rats, seagulls, jackdaws and smells. Wonderful. Then it will be the Black Death back again   Progress eh !

Lil- don't get me started. Not so long ago, we all had just ONE dustbin, collected from the rear alleyway of our terraced street. Then they gave us all recycling boxes and decided to collect from the front.

Now we all have 3 (rubbish, recycling, composting) large wheelie bins in the front of our houses, filling up our small terraced front gardens. The street now looks a mess and much uglier than before. I looked on Google Streetview recently, and the picture of our street was taken before, and it looks much nicer without 3 gigantic plastic bins in each front garden. The council only give a toss about their enviromental targets, not about how a street actually looks to the people who live in it. :(

Started to chicken proof the garden as we have had several escapees over the last few days. One even made it to the front of the house, despite the fact we have no outside access to the back! We think she followed my OH through the house when he took the mower back to the garage  So a roll of chicken wire later and I'm about half way around the garden, so should keep them contained!

I agree about the fitness - I ran 10k last weekend, slow but managed it, but today I realised I have poor upper body strength - out come the dusty dumb bells I think! We need to ensure we get an all ovwr body workout, building strength as we go.

Maybe we need to start another thread with some ideas of how to achieve this.

Have ordered a monocular for my EDC, after a while of dithering about it.

It's still relatively small and light, and may prove handy in an event, as I can see things from afar and possibly avoid danger.

Just ordered some more seeds from Realseeds.co.uk

Aim behind this year with planting although the beds are ready. Will be sorting out greenhouse later.
Oh how I love the school holidays :D
