Having another wisdom tooth removed just in case they cause problems later. Bought a new 100% woollen jumper for 25 quid in a sale. Living the dream.

As I am bicycle dependent for a lot of my travel locally as well as for recreation and exercise I have been studying like mad bicycle maintenance and cleaning thanks to the well of all knowledge that is youtube. I was rather pleased with myself that I was able to adjust the font derailleur on the mountain bike myself.Now I have got over that anxiety and hurdle, now its a question of learning everything else...

The font of all bike knowledge on paper is "Richards Bicycle Book"...theres plenty of second hand but make sure its a late 80s or younger if you want mountain bike specifics.All the special tools can be had from aldi/lidl several times a year and are fine for personal bike maintenance but wouldnt stand up to constant workshop use. Then you would want "park" brand or similar. The only real bugger is getting the right cassette tool for your machine(s)

I've also been planting Poundland fruit bushes, when I went a couple of weeks ago they'd only just got them in so all they had was raspberries, (wasn't a problem, I like raspberries and home grown are a thousand times nicer than bought) but I picked up some blackcurrants and gooseberries to keep them company on Saturday, along with one blueberry as a test, they like acid soil and mine is pretty alkaline because of all the chalk round my way, so I don't know how well it will do, but it should be ok if I water with rain water.

Also been giving my guns a good strip, clean and oil as I've been using them a lot lately and the weather has been pretty damp so the woodwork on my browning will thank me for some oil and my mossberg has had the mechanism stripped down and greased, I clean them after every use anyway but they need a good one every now and then, like anything mechanical if you look after your kit it'll look after you, my rifle only gets used on a range so that one isn't due for another strip yet.

Have a batch of wine that's pretty much ready, so ran that through the filter yesterday and it should be good to bottle next week sometime, and my blackberry whisky has had long enough to infuse now so that'll be going into bottles to mature, probably tomorrow.
Then the next job will be starting off a batch of beer to build up a stock for barbecue weather.

This week I am mostly enjoying a campylobacter infection, as is my missis.

Since we dont have the best relationship with our local GPs, and the fact that they wont give out antibiotics to anyone who needs them, only to those who blatantly dont, its time to mail order some aquarium supplies

...other than that, just took delivery of Lofty Wisemans Survival Handbook which is a useful resource for the less obvious stuff and reminds us of long forgotten SOPs. The mrs continues to work on rebuilding old CB radios for our comms.

Until the need for a very local toilet subsides I dont see much else getting done !

When I did a lot of cycling (not really up to it now) myself and my oppo used to build our own racing bikes. Every year over the Christmas we'd strip them back to the bare frame, and rebuild everything, new bearings, cables etc. It's actually fairly simple, the trick is you do need a few proper tools like chain splitters and hub pullers and things. It would take us a few days (just evenings) to pull them apart and rebuild.
With those tools and a few spare parts you could keep a bike going for decades if SHTF.

So it's a Bog in then I hope your TP supplies are up to the challenge, you just haven't seen suffering until you've got a large family, one toilet, and an outbreak of the trots, which brings us to washing machine liquid, and fabric conditioner.

Which brings me to my stock answer to those insurance salesmen in the town center asking "have you had an accident in the last 12 months sir?" ....... "Nothing that the washing machine couldn't handle mate"

TP always in stock due to injury to transverse colon, diverticulitis and IBS, likewise laundry supplies, but the answer to the insurance salesman, well that goes into the OW category of brilliance, viz;

...on that note our current fave entertainment is playing with the cold callers who say they are from BT (or other ISP) and have detected a fault in our internet security - oh the fun we have with them..."we only run windows 3.11"..."can you tell me how to do that on command line?we only work in code" or best, "this isnt a domestic line as such, we are outworkers for GCHQ Bude"

I bought some more tinned goods and water in addition to my usual shop, that way it doesn't break the bank and isn't noticeable either.

I also picked up some handy bits of kit on the cheap at my local Tesco.

I managed to get a small dynamo torch for £4 and a multi-tool set for the same price, so not bad for £8.

I had a workmate who lived in a tower block about ten floors up, he used to let the double glazing people go through the motions for ages before he told them where he lived, I'm not very nice to nuisance callers phone or door I'm afraid, and junk mail... we don't seem to be getting as much of that these days, anyone else noticed that, we used to get so much it was worth the trouble of sending back the pre paid envelopes with our names removed of course plus as much of an old argos book as one could fit in the envelope.
