wire saw (Chain)
Found a wire saw in Wilkinsons in thier camping outdoors section! it was a couple of quid! It wasn't a wire one it was chain link! like on a chain saw but it only had blades every five links! and straps at either end! I bought it expecting it to be pants! but i took down a 3" stump in less than a minute! and i was to be honest suprised! guna take on something bigger tomorrow

That's a very good price, I might have to get myself down to Wilkinsons in Gloucester soon, before Whitewolf and Preppinsu get there before me

Go ahead, gnoley. I've been banned from spending any more money as the clutch on the family car broke yesterdaythe-gnole wrote:That's a very good price, I might have to get myself down to Wilkinsons in Gloucester soon, before Whitewolf and Preppinsu get there before me![]()

I know that feeling, I have had the news that I might need at least £300 spent to get landy through MOT test, new shocks and a new wheel bearingpreppingsu wrote:Go ahead, gnoley. Re: wire saw (Chain)
pocket chainsaws are sooo much better than wire saws. They cut better and more efficiently and dont snap with the heat! That said, if a wire saw is used properly (like a band saw) it does last quite well, with regular stops for heat dissipation and going slow.

Re: wire saw (Chain)
I've been looking at the various 'pocket' chainsaws and ended up buying this one on fleabay this morning.

If it was designed to be used by the British Army during WWII it's gotta be pretty good, right?
It looks like it'll do the job anyway and the seller says it's very fexible and razor sharp, it's a bit of history from WWII that'll get a new lease of life anyway.

Those are the doggies dangly bits of saws Chef, I hope that your lad appreciates he will be on the other end
Finding them complete is a battle in itself these days, I bought a blade last year, going to have to make the handles myself though.
Have fun with it, and no practicing on the telegraph poles

A bit of an expensive start price

I wondered whether I'd get it and then find out the army pulled em after 6 months because they snap on 2" twigs lol, good to know it's a 'good un', yeah he won't mind, keep him exercised lmao.
Think it was just over £15 with postage taking up £5 of that so comparable with alot of the hand chainsaws I saw on Amazon, but cheaper than the top of the range ones and looks alot better to my untrained eye, most of the others seem to have one cutting link every 4 or 5 which doesn't seem right to me?
