I'm in the same boat as yourself i live bout 7 miles from Bedford town..the Mrs doesn't think i'm too mad for wanting security for our family but like yourself its not the kind of thing you can just pop into conversation with average joe .
I currently doing recce for a few wild camping spots around Beds and have found quite a few decent ones in the surrounding area. Pm me if you wanna chat mate.
