If you're betting man I'm happy to wager that we'll not have a zombie apocalypse. Ever. Now aliens..... absolute stinkers and for some reason all aliens have designs on human woman (the TV can't be wrong), they're the buggers to watch for. :tinfoil
Well what about last October 31st, our street was swarming with them.

You beat me to it, a SAK spartan covers things although I rarely need it, a combination of the wine industry getting into screwtops and me drinking the 'turps' end of the product means its more a nice to have than the 'life essential' it was. There are some decent boxes if its just the quaffing stuff too and they're easier to take out for a wee camp than bottles.

Ah, lovely booze....

A good question in fairness but I'm pretty sure it doesn't involve the kids going to school the next day with the makeup remains on their coupons. ;)

Kids?
Anything else would be pretty tragic.

Ah now that would depend on the type of apocalypse, WW2 was for the Jews and many others in Europe and went on for years, imagine an asteroid strike like the dinosaurs had, that may not have been anything like as quick as we first imagine, as for zombies, the walking dead seems to be able to drag it out for far longer than WW2

Deeps I hope you have included wine making and perhaps a home distillery in your preps mate, I'm pretty much teatotal these days ;)
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Any chance we would try and steer this thread back on topic. Although, to be honest, I have no idea what the topic actually is?! :?

I've been offline for 24 hours and look at this

Actually, the thread is pretty realistic when it come to real life prepping and real life UK preppers

Accepting that it *does* actually need to be dragged slightly back on-topic (I'm rubbish at the humour, I'm the one that sits back and applauds) then my questions are addressed to Gary, the OP/GPS:
- is any of your other work online? Can you post a link if so?
- what's the provisional title of your research?
- who does your ethical reviews? Is that from part of the university, or the academic journal where you want it to be published?
- do you have a draft of a questionnaire that you're going to send out, or will your interviews be more ad hoc?
- when you say in your first post that you'd be interested in people's experiences, do you mean the experiences that got people into prepping, or experiences of using preps, or both?
- if a participant decides to withhold permission for their material to be used, how do you deal with that (again, I'm reading from your first post)?

The one thing I'd like to say here, is please don't underestimate us. It happens a lot, and it's another reason for distrust towards both journalists and academics.
