Hi Everyone,
I am looking to replace my headtorch in my BOB from the Solar Storm X3 to something similar with a lower profile and better run time, I have been researching this for about a week and am struggling. my requirements are 1000 lumen output with ideally a run time for about 8 hours @ 1000 lumen running from 18650's also micro USB rechargeable. does anyone on here know if such a device exists ? any advice would be gratefully received. ! does anyone own such a mythical device ?
so far I have looked at:
LED Lenser
Olight
Fenix
no joy with any of them as they all have a 'turbo mode' with means max output (1000+ lumen) for about a minute then drops down to about 500 lumen. run time is usually about 2 hours on the 500lm. I like my existing solar storm x 3 as I get about 4.5 hours run time on max but it is rather bulky and has a waist mounted battery pack (4 X 18650's) with a short wire (its originally a bike light so I guess that's why the short wire) any flashaholics on here ?
any help is appreciated. !

I think 1000 lumens with long run time, matched with a low profile compact design is a bit of a paradox. Running 1000 lumens for an extended period will need a beast of a battery, which will be bulky.

The OP'er hasn't said what he wants it for, it sounds like a big ask for a torch that will sit in a bag, unless its going to get a lot more use.Wood cutter wrote:I think 1000 lumens with long run time, matched with a low profile compact design is a bit of a paradox. hi gents,
it will be used for walking mainly in the moors and also the local forestry, hence the run time. when not used it will sit in my bag. I take onboard your points wood cutter, I also think it was a big ask and after research came up with nothing so thought I would ask the question here. anyhow thanks again.

andy, thanks yes I know what you mean. On the moors its a bland landscape though and the light power is as much about distance for this environment than anything else, also don't want a broken / sprained ankle from misplaced steps. any how the search continues.... i have also asked the question on the candle power forums, a rough crowd though, not as forgiving as you lot
take it easy.

cheers korolev . I will take a look now. I didn't consider zebralight ! cheers,
UPDATE:
just had a look and seems like a great option actually, only 2 hours runtime on max but takes a single 18650, so can just take spares. I will have a look on youtube also now. thank you korolev I think you might have found what I needed.

Have you looked at Nitecore?
I use a Nite Core HC60. Rechargeable 18650 via built in micro USB.
Max Output 1000 lumens
Max Beam Distance 117 m
Max Beam Intensity 3400 cd
Max Runtime 680 h 0 m / 28.33 d
I rarely use it on maximum, it has five settings and spends most of the time on one setting up from minimum for general walking about, walking the dog, etc, etc.
