Ooh, if I can be nosy - where from and how much for what size? I've been dying to get my hands on one of these for a while but shipping it in from the US is a touch pricey!

I've spent the last week catching up on my reading and directing DH where to dig and what to plant. So we've got potatoes, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers all on the go, and as soon as I'm back on my feet and DH has finished digging the veggie plot, it'll be courgettes, winter squash and greens going in.

Haven't done any prepping activities for the last couple of weeks. Serious family stuff going on, so even my computer/internet time has been greatly reduced.

Will get back on it soon though. What with the PM warning of heightened terror risk and all...

My other half has just dug me two new small veg plots, and today we fenced them using recycled fenceposts and salvaged fencing, isn`t pretty but will do the job. I have just planted some squash seedlings (will be my first time of trying those, never eaten them afore) and pumpkin (ditto) plus seed tatties.

Was just wondering where you'd gone AWR, hope all is ok with you. RD, I have a decent sized back garden but the OH seems to think it's a cemetary, because he just wants grass innit

I paid $89 dollars for the canner $98 for shipping and £28.00 import tax its a 23 Quart means I will be able to do a lot more canning this year, I was only able to can high acid foods last year, without a pressure canner

Ok, I caved in and bought a pressure canner too :) Actually, I assured DH that it would suffice as my birthday present for the end of the month. ;) Picked this http://www.amazon.com/Presto-23-Quart-A ... 449&sr=8-1, so I'd better dig out my canning books and see what else I'm going to need. Will probably start with the venison I have in the freezer, and see how that works out.

Finally got enough dosh together to buy a small generator.
Just big enough to run the house essentials i.e. 650 watts.
That's 230 watts for the heating, 350 watts for the fridge and a whole 70 watts for lighting!!!!

Two stroke petrol, AND it will run on ethanol mix (according to the manual).
Only one problem, need a new kettle.
Does anyone know where I can get those mains cup boiler elements from?
