A little first world prepper problem today!
I always like to keep an emergency stash on me, in a small aluminium canister - measures around 80mm long and about 18mm wide, i've usually got about £40 in it, and usually in 20's.
Did a rare thing today and forgot my wallet, so used the emergency stash for fuel, problem i've found upon getting home and re-filling it, is that the new notes do not like being folded like the old ones! If i fold then roll they bunch up, if i try to fold more than one way they spring back out!
So is anyone on here good with origami or have any tips for folding these new fangled plastic jobbies?
Storing/folding cash
Re: Storing/folding cash
I have a crisp £20 inside my phone case, i.e. the phone has to be removed from the case to get to it. Seemed to fold sharply enough.
Re: Storing/folding cash
I used to have one of those capsules, plastic notes don't fit in my experience.I now keep fuel money in the car.I have a bit of cash in the GHB,a note in my phone case, and never forget my wallet.

Re: Storing/folding cash
I can't give any actual advice as to how to fold them other than perhaps trying to roll them and maybe keep them in something like a hollow pen? I personally just keep a few in my phone case.
The springing back is something a lot of people have noticed. I have a friend who is a postman which means he's walking the streets on a regular basis and he says he's started to find more 5 and 10 pound notes that have presumably "sprung" out off people's pockets.

I've noticed if you only have plastic notes in your wallet and you put it in your back pocket while walking about the notes tend to ride up out of the wallet.grenfell wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 5:50 pm I can't give any actual advice as to how to fold them other than perhaps trying to roll them and maybe keep them in something like a hollow pen? Re: Storing/folding cash
Maybe not an ideal solution for the OP but I carry 2 wallets (far too much crap in my pockets) and split cash between them. Also keep a bank card in the second wallet which is the more preppery of the two. Not much point if you forget them I suppose but I put them in my pockets even if I'm out the back walking the dugs, they really are EDC.

Plastic notes are a plot to drive us away from using cash I reckon.

On the plus side, it turns out if you put them through the washing machine then once they're dry again you'd never know
It's a beautiful destination

Not worried about powering the whole house, just eating hot food, getting a brew, seeing through the dark, and staying warm.
