I used to watch a programme called The Planners I think, which was about villagers, etc., having to fight to stop developments being built on the green areas around them.
It was in this, or other programmes, that suggested that villages in years to come will be a rarity, population expansion and a kind of land-grabbing, taking away their isolation and turning them unwillingly into towns, maybe even eventually cities.
Also, there was a term used, more in the US I think, called Eminent Domain, that if areas where people lived, prevented developments (usually schools, hospitals, etc) the Government could claim this process and buy you out or have you removed.
As the population expands, outlying villages are being absorbed, at the same time small coastal communities are being lost due to sea erosion.
In time villages, by their very appeal, will draw the masses, gradually changing what they were into something else entirely...it’s quite sad tbh
It’s almost like we are being forced to live closely together...villages may become only a memory
