Hi Raven,
thanks for your interest. That's right, it's valued, but we don't follow any doctrine. Anyone of faith is welcomed, as long as they share our core principles, and the basic tenets of their beliefs posit that we (you, and I) can live harmoniously as neighbours. That being said, all are invited to join the network and come along to train and socialise (faith or not), but again, same rules apply. Harmony with others. Pretty basic stuff.
[Edit: The spiritual aspect is no longer a pertinent factor, see my recent post]
This enterprise is the network, from which individual MAGS or 'clans' will spring under mutual agreement. That's the Viking Preparedness template which we've adopted. Anyone may join the network to train/socialise in person, with a view to joining or forming a group of their own. The minimal requirements and the political/religious leaning of said group would be a personal arrangement between those parties involved.
As for CoV? No one really knows at this time how it will be handled, but meetings will take place at outdoor venues, and initially there will only be a few of us. We'll work something out. I'd also like to point out that my calling them 'events' is rather grandiose at this stage. Instead, they'll be low-key 'get-togethers' for LMP to meet, train, and socialise.
Cheers,
M.

Re: 'Viking' Prepper-Fam Seeking LMP for Fellowship and Training.
Really interesting post, I am new here myself and joined for similar reasons.
My partner and I actually train people in first aid (she has an extensive medical background and we are designing a first aid for wilderness training plan we want to get approved), I did Krav Maga for a number of years and one of my side projects is working on a possible system to give people a basic self defence base after 5 days of training (but I am a way off being happy with that.)
I am ex-Police and she is ex-NHS. We are currently looking at purchasing a large parcel of land in wales (over 50 acres) possibly up to 200 acres with the idea of developing the forests and land around it to be self sustainable and moving the training and security business we have over that way.
How have you found developing the group?

Jumping in ahead of Son of Andrew, Raven and others [Im sure they wont mind ] we had our second meet up last weekend and have another booked (Cov19 allowing) for early September at a destination 'Up-Norf'. If you are seriously interested and want to know more, feel free to drop SoA or myself an email off the main forum as that thread of discussion is now closed here.

I apologise for failing to notice your post earlier. Thanks for your interest. This isn't any particular group per se, but it's the network from which groups will spring. It's been a labour at times, as there's such a stigma surrounding 'prepping' in the UK, and the Brits being somewhat naturally reserved, have been reticent to come forward. It's been difficult finding LMP whom are willing to commit their time and energy for something greater than their own self-interest. This is for a number of reasons which I will not elaborate upon here, but mainly because it requires a certain amount of individual self-sacrifice, vulnerability, hard work and co-operation.
The network has been slowly gathering members and momentum however (if somewhat sporadically), and we are making progress, although we're struggling due to the current socio-political situation to find a suitable venue at which to meet and train. We've already acquired some pro-active individuals of obvious merit, and there's an excellent rapport amongst the team. We have a means of keeping in constant contact with one another, which we use to give each other advice, and point each other to bargains, or helpful information. We're few at the moment but we are enthusiastic and committed. We've been a huge source of motivation, help and support to one another over the last few months, and the group helps to hold others accountable for their successes/progress.
So far we've had two meets, one for our northern, and one for our southern contingent, we have two more scheduled for the near future, and there will be more.
Within reason, anyone is welcome to attend.
Cheers, ta,
M.

Re: 'Viking' Prepper-Fam Seeking LMP for Fellowship and Training.
Hi Folks (and Vikings),
It's been a while and I'd like to clarify a few things.
Since we've started this venture we've gone through a number of evolutions, and we've just undergone another. We have now become a completely independent off-shoot from Viking Preparedness, as I have taken it upon myself to un-sub from Joe Fox's Patreon page entirely. Reasons being; I've found that the VP template set down by Joe Fox doesn't quite work in the same way in Blighty, and as a result we now find it necessary to deviate from it. I also wish to assume more autonomy and control, both within myself and the group, because although I benefited greatly from the association, I found that my concern over Joe Fox's opinion of us was clouding my judgement.
As a result, the spiritual aspect I was pushing originally is no longer as pertinent as it was. That was an experiment on my part, but we're not getting the numbers we'd like, so I've now dropped that parameter. If you can play nicely with others, that's good enough for us. We now share few commonalities with VP, other than the name, a general ethos, and the way in which we organise the network and meetups.
There's an emphasis on participation, mutual assistance, self-protection, and food production. We'd like to hear from anyone interested, with the following (or similar) skill-sets; former military, especially engineering or tactical, martial arts (but especially reality-based training), trades (such as electrical esp. hydro/solar/aero energy, construction, plumbing, vehicle mechanics), nurses, dentists, doctors, paramedics, first-responders. We'd also like to hear from bushcrafters, permaculturers, food producers, hunters/fishermen, and people with livestock experience, woodland management, the list goes on. Hardy outdoors people are always good.
For some time I mis-used the term 'communal', and it seems to have caused some confusion. I apologise. This was my error, and our definite intention is a series of homesteads, each with their own plot, in close proximity. I stress, this is NOT a 'communal' project. We currently have a number of members in the process of moving/selling, and the emphasis is on buying neighbouring individual plots, and NOT one large piece of property.
In our opinion, community and LMP are two of the most valuable preps, often overlooked. If you think you have a pertinent skill-set, and would like to be part of a growing, enthusiastic team of forward-thinkers, with an emphasis on self-improvement and 'close-community', then please get in touch.
Cheers, ta,
M.

Re: 'Viking' Prepper-Fam Seeking LMP for Fellowship and Training.
Had a great meet up with Son of Andrew and other members of the group over the weekend up in Northumberland and several other preppers from different sources throughout the week prior.
Using the ATB official "SHTF - SWING -O - METER" almost everyone we asked had their danger level set over 5 and up to 7 whereas ours had been set at between 3 & 4. (A score of Zero refers to normal life as we knew it say 12 months ago and a score of 10 would be societal collapse / mad max scenario) Several people mentioned the similarities in events taking place around the world and the likelihood that things could spin out of control equally quickly and fiercely in the UK without too much provocation. We now think that our judgement might be a little off in terms of the current situation in the UK and how quickly and how far things seem to have deteriorated recently and have upped our score to between 4 and 5 for now.
Meeting other preppers face to face and speaking openly and honestly about matters that concern us all, was quite relaxing and helped relieve some of the pressures / frustrations / concerns many of us were feeling. It definitely helps knowing you are not the only "nutters in the room" so to speak.
Lots of people all voicing the same concerns and worries, all making the effort to travel long distances and put themselves out in real time was very rewarding, thanks to everyone who came along to meet us. COVID restrictions allowing, we are already looking forward to the next ones.
