The confusion of gas mask filters

Post by mforge »

Hello everyone,

I am new here and very keen to start prepping. I have a severe disability and I do not want to catch this coronavirus as it will be detrimental for me.

I need to go for a hospital appointment soon and a small operation, I am extremely nervous and about to purchase one of these masks.

Scott Promask Black Full Face Respirator

P3 filter
https://www.gasmask-respirators.co.uk/p ... -119-p.asp

vs

MIRA Safety CM-6M Tactical Gas Mask - Full-Face Respirator for CBRN Defense
https://www.mirasafety.com/collections/ ... l-gas-mask

ParticleMax P3 Virus Filter - 6 Pack
https://www.mirasafety.com/collections/ ... rus-filter

I am more unsure on which virus filter would be the best?

I'm not sure if this information helps in the decision but I contacted MIRA and they informed me that their filter is a U16 not a U17.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome can you please post an introduction in our new members section please

What ever fits......

In industry we get face fit tested to ensure no matter how ugly and rough faced we are they actually seal.

(NB blokes must be clean shaved)

Those are the upper end of the spectrum in terms of paramilitary styling ;) imo and you will really get some funny looks.. but you need to look after yourself

The standard 40mm euro canister is ok but can be restrictive in terms of size and mounting if your laid on a bed and the canister is sticking out one side your going to knock it and break the seal

Here are some other options more stream lined with twin cartridges

Filters:

The sundstrom is a very comfy mask but textile head harness can he hard to clean
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Okay well that is interesting and thanks for the feedback. For me it is more about the virus into capabilities.
