blood pressure monitor

Post by Rykard »

Hi,
the mil has been asked by her doctor to keep a note of her blood pressure. The surgery didn't have any monitors to lend out so she wants to buy one.
She wants to spend around £30.
Are there any out there that anyone can recommend?

cheers

I suffer from white coat syndrome as well as high BP.

The ones from aldi and lidl work, but they just made my BP go up whilst attempting to get a reading. You would have to calibrate it to one at the Drs surgery also.

The 24hr monitor is worth waiting for and gives an all round picture of what your heart is doing.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I got a Lidl one it nearly took my arm off it pumped to silly high pressure...

Look up OMRON (very big in industrial control and magic eyes / pressure sensors )

It's much quieter than the Lidl one I got and doesn't feel like it's going to rip your arm off or try to reinflated itself several times or have a big traffic light led traffic light ladder schematic showing red if high.... Which isn't what anyone wants to see

this is the same as out local gp surgery handed out on a free loan basis pre covid for a week to take my own readings ..

One button nothing fancy but it was a only a few mmHg out Vs the nurse and her mechanical unit

So I bought my own

Apologies being late to the party (as usual), but there are wild variations with home electronic ones. Don't get me wrong, they can be good, but a cuff, stethoscope, and a quick read up on how to do it is likely to be your best bet.
As another said though, if you're not too keen on that, Omron make quite good sphygs.

Another vote for the Omron. If you get the chance to compare with the GPs machine then test it. Ours is spot on. Also keep a record of your readings so you and the GP can see any trends which will apply even on an untested machine.

I too have an Omron, but expect to pay more than £30.

I have the Omron jobby too.I am borderline high blood pressure. Mind you, I don’t stress about it.Like pseudonym,I have ‘white coat syndrome’,and last time I did an extended test for the doctor, one of the two weeks was holiday. Realised it was work that was the problem. Mind you, the Omron was accurate, as the doctor tested it against his kit.Proper village doctor he was, and he played a mean game of cards in the pub too,
