Thanks! She absolutely is getting better! I shall be taking her to hospital to get her dressings removed tomorrow. She has a dressing with a pressure alarm! Who’d have thunk it?

Anyhow, a word to the wise people;if you have unusual lumps , bumps or whatever, please, please get yourselves checked out.
It might save your life.

It's amazing what kit is available now from silver impregnated gauze to using Manuka honey which saved a friend's foot from some infection that antibiotics didn't touch......

One thing I have noticed is the stuff I've picked up recently is shorter dated than some of the pre pandemic stuff .. which is strange as most places run out of paracetamol about the same time as the 2020 bog roll shortage

Its worth looking into the life expectancy of meds after passing the UBD. The US military conducted tests over a ten year period and found most drugs to be fine at ten years including paracetamol, ibuprofen and aspirin. Most antibiotics proved good for at least fives years except for tetracycline but I believe the formula has now been changed to improve its shelf life. Morphine/Tramadol tablets are good for years and it seems the main problems is with liquid medications like cough mixtures.

Sterile dressings so long as the package had not breached also proved to be still sterile years after its UBD.

I have developed asthma and COPD and take inhalers. When my father in law passed away in 2015 he'd hoarded over twenty Ventolin inhalers some were four or five years out of date but I used them and they still had the desired effect.

At Tesco Pharmacy, only 1 pack of 32 CoCodimol... The good stuff.

You can buy more ibuprofen in one go from a pharmacy but not from a general store. Boots sell it in packs of 96 behind the counter.

Essential stuff: Bottled 30 bottles of Italian Red wine and ordered several kits.

I'm lovingly nursing the chard and beetroot that was late getting sown in my new planter about 7 weeks ago. It seems to be doing very well. A few small green tomatoes have also appeared, but I was very late sowing them. Not expecting a bumper crop.

Damned if I know how to cook or eat chard. Favourite idea so far is to pretend it's spinach, not that I eat much of that.

Speaking of food.... Have had a couple of 'toogoodtogo' magic box orders fulfilled. So far, good value. I dehydrated some of the contents and I'm hopefully collecting another one tonight. Each box cost me £3.09. It's not that I'm short of cash: more that I like to do my bit to save food waste. Plus I like lucky dip foods to rustle a meal out of. It's a bit of fun.
