I've read the first two books of the series and enjoyed them both.

In a nut shell an event of unknown origins stops all electrics, guns, etc. from working. As a result various groups band together from farm owners, townsfolk and pagans living in what amounts to a medeival level of society.

Of course there is a bad guy who sets himself up in a 'Sheriff of Nottingham' type role. It's also good to see some key British characters in a American written series.

The only criticism I would have is that the two main groups in the story come across appropriately skilled people a little to easily for my liking.

That said the book demonstrates how a group can overcome adversity and achieve a great deal.

Yes Lil, one of the groups have a community built around a wiccan/pagan/celtic beliefs. Adds a bit of colour and mystery, along with the fact that Tolkiens Middle Earth becomes influential amongst the younger characters.

I have just finished the first book now on the second. The science of the event is a bit strange what works and what doesn't. Electrical equipment not working I can understand but how do you stop gunpowder from burning or compressed steam from moving a piston. :!:
