One day more of this sodding rain and I'll be building an ARK. Who's got the blueprints?

Hi Midland Prepper,
Key law to be concerned with is the Criminal Justice Act 1988 - Had with him/her wihout good reason/lawful authority article with blade/sharply pointed or folding pocke knife cutting edge more than 7.62cm (3inches).
So depends on the blade length of the metally bit!
Context/environment is a factor as well. In a survival/camping kit, should not be a issue as opposed to it being freely accessible in the drivers door pocket or under your seat. If it's in the boot packed away, should not be an issue (when it's under 3 inches of course).
Also, if you had a long criminal history including carrying weapons and fighting with knives etc not look good!
Is down to the officer concerned and the courts in the worst case scenario!
'Tis your decision though and cannot advise on specific cases, hoho!

sorry must read what I type before hitting submit. The S10 comes in four sizes size one is the largest size four is tiny. when you get yours check the valves.Technik wrote:As far as I know they come in 5 sizes - 1-XL, 2-L, 3-M, 4-S, 5-XS ? So I went for the size 3-M, if it doesn't fit then I will sell it. Regards the filter, there are some 2007 ones on ebay still air tight so should be all right.allan wrote:Is the S10 the correct size for you as they come in 3 sizes.Technik wrote:Bought a 2008 S10 respirator from ebay, so now need a fairly new filter (they have a life span of 10 years).
When you get the canisters remember the 10 year shelf life is for the plastic bodied ones and only if they are still sealed in the foil wrapper.
They should have marking in the centre. inlet should read "in" the year produced and "31" the outlet should have "out" the year and "58" if they have c1 and c14 under the year they are old camberly valves and will need replacing as they have a tendency to fail to seal properly.

I carry something similar on me all the time. I would be happy to quote their own Statute/act back at them, that it is under 3 inches in length and does not lock. I have a genuine reason for carrying it as I am an official horse hoof stone remover by trade. (I might even make myself a business card that says that)midlandprepper wrote:Just bought myself this new pointy thing for my bob/general use around and about, does anyone think i would be breaking the law if i had it in my EDC in my car? got a small firstaid kit too =]
ASDA have them, 2 for £4 so even if they take it off me, which I doubt, I would just go and buy another.
Plus I do my best not to look too shifty during my everyday life. I have even removed the big "SWAG" label off my BOB and replaced my Dennis the Menace stripped jumper with an army green one.
Be lucky

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Spent yesterday movng shelving around to accomodate my food preps better as the shelves they were on were too small. The food stuff now loks great, easy to get to, easy to rotate etc.
However, that has left me with a huge amount of clutter and a mean a massive amount of clutter. OMG - I didn't realise I had soooo much. Lots of resources/toys etc I have kept from all my various jobs in the hope one day it will come in useful.
I now have to sort through it all, be very ruthless as it needs to fit in the space that the food came from
Need to get some curtain/nets to put around the shelves as they are out in a long hallway so are now a little open to some visitors eyes (we have a strange house layout)
Car is due MOT today. Result may mean alternative transport arrangements. Need to plan for that!!

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I've had a massive think - and realise that I can't carry on with prepping and still afford to eat. So I need to throttle back on the stashing and just work day to day or week to week until I can save some money, we are at rock bottom. But I will still keep eyes open for a good bargain ..

I know what you mean. On this months shop I didn't get anything for the preps and I'm sure we will be dipping into what we already have. But then again at least I've got them to dip into!diamond lil wrote:I've had a massive think - and realise that I can't carry on with prepping and still afford to eat.
