Uber browny points just earned here - its our wedding anniversary on Tuesday and I'd bought her a le cruseut kettle (more romantic than it sounds). As the SSE app says power's off until tomorrow I've given it to her early, it's simmering away on the wood burner as I speak, much more attractive than the trangia ones we were using.

56 years - impressive. I'm just an infatuated pup with just 19 years.

Wow, there are a couple of casualties reported on the BBC from downed trees, so I'm glad everyone on here is doing pretty well at least.

And Happy Anniversary! To Diamond Lil and Nurse Andy and their partners :)

My gas cartridges have arrived, though I wasn't in when they arrived; heater is still on its way. I spent the day cooing over my 10 week old great niece ❤ we had a lovely day.

Current preps, I'm working harder at using things up, of the big bags of stuff I bought last year. Some of the nuts, especially the cashew nuts, are just too old to use (rancid fats).

firewood here due to the storm and through work had 5 pick up loads of logs, though this time we got off lightly the last one we had 156 trees down across the borough that where reported in,never thought id ever say this but by the end of that one i was sick of seeing logs and within the entire council they only use 5 of us with chainsaw tickets out of 30 trained blokes but tbh i wouldn't work near some of the others if they had a bow saw in there hands
Remember the rule of the 7 P's, proper planning and prepperation prevents piss poor performance...
