Emergency heater and extra gas cartridges have arrived safely. That feels a lot more secure.

Good going arzosah. I need to work on a wee portable heater of some kind too.

Arzosah: What heater did you buy in the end? Have you tested it yet? we could use something for the flat. It is a definite weak point in th epreps and I have been racking my brains for resonably priced and sized solutions since we have limited space.

GillyBee, it was this one that I bought, Andy already has it as a backup, so I snaffled it :)

Search for "portable gas heater" and you'll find loads of sellers. I bought from PriceBusterUK, who were fine, they worked hard on cutting down a cardboard box to the right size, and waterproofed it well with a plastic covering. It's currently £22.99, which I think is an absolute bargain :) I do think this model is well priced, and the cartridges bought in bulk cost about 67p - that's an hour's heating more or less, which is going to keep the freeze off the room.

I haven't fully unpacked it yet  I took the outer plastic off, but I'm not doing any more than that - I'll leave it for a week or so, that's my covid cautiousness, I'm afraid. Even though I'm feeling increasingly out of step with the world in relation to that, I'm still sticking with taking a while to unpack things, it's a fairly easy precaution to take in my situation. I'll let you know when I get it going :)

Hopefully they are all off abroad might force the British staycation market back in their box. We booked my mum and dad a midweek break to Whitby paid a deposit at the price on their website in a B&B the cheeky BASKETS rung up "really sorry we've double booked" then the same room re-appeard at 4x the price for the same dates it took me threatening to drive to Whitby after a month to get our deposit bask as well ( and I would have )

Friend recently got a price for a haven caravan in Norfolk for one week 2a 1c at £2000!

Noticed a mass influx of camping / caravan stuff going up for sale in faceache and fiea bay too recently

Yup. My brother is a copper down in the southwest and there were a lot of people who would have gone to the Costas who were bringing the same behaviour to UK beaches and being surprised to get done for being drunk and disorderly.

WT actual F?! £2000 for a caravan in Great Yarmouth (for that is where the Haven caravans are)??? Don't get me wrong, Yarmouth has its pleasures, but not £2000 worth of 'em!

I'm researching new welly boots as my current very cheap green ones are really uncomfortable and I could do with spending a bit more money on a more comfy pair. Plus also looking at smart and comfortable work shoes / boots that I could walk a long way in and will actually *last*. I suspect I may be looking at a lot of money for them. <grump>
