Hey there...Looking for a prep-minded community in the UK

Post by leonosiris »

Good day! Greatings from Somerset!
Im a 37 year old, long-term truthseeker (and professional artist). I let go of a city life and started living more alternatively when Covid restrictions started...and Im looking to network with some prepping groups in the UK now, in the hope to learn my further direction, and hopefully find a tribe so to speak. I'm hoping to live with like-minded people in some kind of truth-conscious community.
I have a lot of knowledge and experience with life. Im a deep thinker, creative, I love DIY and cooking, im skilled with computers and all things design or art based. Im familiar with certain survival skills, and Im a quick learner.

I feel like its time for those who are willing, to start making some big changes and commitments in their lives, if they are smart! Things are going to get very difficult it seems, and very soon

Regards
~Leon~

Hello and welcome.

What do you consider to be a truth-seeker? We are generally a pragmatic lot on here, more concerned with the mundane side of prepping - keeping our homes warm/lit and our families fed - than running off and living in a commune, so you may find us a little tame for your particular tastes. :)

Hey Welcome to the forum, uk forum groups tend to be small and skeptical of strangers until they're nolonger strangers (blame the press and certain well known loonytunes).

Hope you find what you're seeking.
If at first you don't succeed, excessive force is usually the answer.

Welcome to the forum, Leon! Just chipping in to agree with itsy and smudge, really - I've been here a while, and actually political/spiritual/religious/social views vary quite widely, though there's a bell curve about these things, and the majority sit clearly in the middle. Except for prepping, though even that's being taken more seriously in the wider community, which is great.

Back in the day when I looked at intentional communities getting together physically, not just online - I found that the basis needed to be really solid, really long term - so the only advice I have about that is keep looking everywhere. Keep contributing, so that people know what you're looking for, and if people are looking for the same thing, you'll gravitate to one another.

I suppose you know about https://diggersanddreamers.org.uk/?

Good luck. The advice about "keep contributing" applies here too, by the way :)

Hi Leon, and welcome.

You've found one. Sort of,
We are every bit the tribe or family or community. Just virtual.
We preppers are generally discreet and don't reveal our little foible too much for a couple of reasons..... We don't want to be vilified as 'hoarders or nutters or the cause of problems, nor as crazy chicken Littles. Also, if/when TSHTF, we don't want all our family and old friends and even hostiles coming round expecting handouts from our ample supplies. Here we can share ideas and plans in total anonymity.
Truth conscious might be a stretch, because amongst us we have a wide range of motivations and political opinions.
This forum is a no-politics zone, by the way..

We get out of this forum what we collectively contribute, so please don't be shy. Share your ideas, hints, tips, whatever
