Water is a very underrated prep. Those Jerry cans sound the business.
bought them from here www.preppersshop.co.uk do plan on getting a few more for the price,i think there the cheapest i can find on the web,my only grumble was the box they came in,had the shops name plastered all over it and lets the delivery driver know you are a prepper but not to worry
Thanks for the link.Yes,that is a worry. We Preppers pride ourselves on OPSEC or secrecy,if you like. Perhaps be worth a message to them to express your concern?

After the tips people on here gave me, I’ve purchased a first aid replenishment kit and a small solar bank which is more for camping than emergencies.

I’m going to clean out a few gallon demijohns I have up in the attic as well.

Let’s see.

I have a gallon of Rosehip, Scottish berry, Dragons blood, Black Forest gateau and a Viking blood mead in the attic.

I’ve just bottled fortified cherry (I stuck half a bottle of brandy to it) and fruit salad (the breakfast mix from Lidl). I will stick a picture up when I’m back at home.

It gets addictive…

I think I do about 4 lbs of whatever fruit juice to 1.5 - 2 lbs of sugar, a packet of yeast, yeast nutrition, peptic enzymes if it needs it.

I leave mine for the year, half way through I will put a stopper and finishing agent and rack it and if I want to fortify or back sweeten it, I do it around the 10 month stage. I sometimes cheat and back sweeten with cordial.

I’m a complete newbie if I am honest and I probably don’t make ‘classic wine’ - it’s more hooch but the neighbours like it and the cherry I did two years ago, my older neighbour phoned my after 10 to say she enjoyed it. When I saw her about two days later, she said that she had put her decorations on the tree.

Upside down. So it certainly gets you there!

Edited to say, I’m quite looking forward to my Viking Blood mead with is mead but also made with cherries. I didn’t faff about with the hibiscus for it though, it should be ready for Christmas.

Ordered another jerry can for diesel which will take us to 60L stored. We rotate these. Also bought one of those little Duronic 3 way chargeable radios as we don't own a radio. I'm not a fan of general chatter of presenters nor of most of the music played, but as it has a tiny light and an alarm too it could be very useful. We have been cutting down on electricity use as much as possible and bought a clothes airer for indoors, although I do line dry my laundry once the weather is a bit better. I also picked up a load of branches which had blown off trees in the car park near work and stuck them in the back of the truck, did get a few funny looks. Mostly I have been looking through my preps and asking myself what have we got and what do we still need. Tomorrow will be chopping wood and starting some pepper and chilli seeds indoors.
Growing old disgracefully!
