I know there are going to be loads of folk who have eaten raw sprouts all their lives and lived to tell the tale, but all this talk of e coli etc has put me off a bit. After all, don't want to survive a zombie invasion and die of salmonella.
I've googled- and it seems that some people soak their seeds - or their grown sprouts - in weak solutions of bleach/water. I'm thinking this is much like usual water purification we prep for. Some people say hydrogen peroxide works as a rinse for the grown sprouts.
Others soak the sprouts in boiling water with a dash of bleach....
So, what to do? I could just cook all the things but I imagine the more delicate sprouts just collapse if you lob them in a stew. I can't think there would be much nutritional value left either.
What does anyone else do?
