I know what you mean too... I'm trying to make sure I get at least one thing for the store a week, even if it's just a tin of something, but even that's hard at the moment!diamond lil wrote:I've had a massive think - and realise that I can't carry on with prepping and still afford to eat. So I need to throttle back on the stashing and just work day to day or week to week until I can save some money, we are at rock bottom. But I will still keep eyes open for a good bargain ..

Today I spent checking the families tents was fun trying to fit all five onto my pocket hanky size lawn. Glad I did found that my son lost two poles at a music festival and all the pegs from the tent he used they must have been to heave to pick up in the state he was in. He didn't to tell me though.

I have been very sneaky. Had my four year old grandson nagging the misses to go camping and she finally gave in.
So had to go get a new bistro type stove and lots of gas canisters for it she wont use my petrol stoves. At the same time got a tent heater that used the same canisters. a camp table and several chairs are the next things on the list.

At last I've cleared all credit card debt, which is a great relief!
Checked all the gear in the car and replaced various items. Sold a load of gear on E-bay, the cash will be going towards a portable wood burning stove!
Bought extra food items for storage!

It soon builds up! For a few months I've made a point of picking up a tin or packet of something for the store each time I go to the supermarket. That large tote box I began with soon filled up and I'm onto another one now.Teapot wrote:I know what you mean too... Adding slowly and steadily doesn't feel so painful on the wallet (not that you're losing money by exchanging it for food, and with price inflation as it is you'll spend less now rather than later). I've found also it allows me to balance out the variety of foods in the store as I go along.

Congratulations on clearing your debt, that must be a relief. I wish I could see the light at the end of the tunnel
It takes a lot of resolve to do it - well done

Food, food and more food... I've managed to find quite a lot of space in a cupboard so went and bought around £80 worth of tinned food to fill that space
But there's still space left so will go to Makro on Monday again.
Oh, and I bought 10 packs of 12-pack toilet rolls at Lidl, so that's 120 rolls for £11

I decided to get the finger out and sold a freezer & dehumidifier on Gumtree, then spent the proceeds in Costco. Whoohoo

Well my prepping this week was to try and free up some space as well generating some income.
I went through bits and pieces to sell locally via gumtree, Im in line by the end of the week to make a lovely £200.00 in the Queens money, which is not bad for about 2.5 hours worth of sorting things.
This is going in the prep fund for a huge prep spend at the end of next month, so if you do have things that are just laying around, not being used and probably not going to be used again, sell sell sell if possible.
I looked at every bit of £££ made was good and didnt set my expectations too high.
