Some others have mentioned it already but the key thing is take it one step at a time otherwise you will burn out trying to think of everything and one that I haven't seen mentioned and I think is key for prepping is entertainment. I personally go for board games and a deck of cards (got some zombie theamed ones from my time in the scouts) but there are 101 things you can do to.
Also I have recently got myself a HAM radio and taking my beginers exam to use it soon, I would say hold off till later on get the basics covered first then look to exspand slowly with skills and equipment you want and might need.
