I will be sowing more vegetable seeds , marigolds and nasturtium too. There’s always firewood to process, and it’s a major part of our domestic economy, so I never mind. In fact, I find it very satisfying to see it stacked.

The rabbits are busy doing what rabbits do  and the fowls are laying full-bore.

Mrs J is picking up any bargains she can find on tinned and dried goods we use, as inflation is the issue now isn’t it?

I know Rusty - my grandson's a 17 yr old apprentice joiner and gets more than I did when I was working full time.

Bought paracord, plastic whistles and a few other camping bits and bobs. Not quite prepping but kind of living next door to it if you get my drift.

My axe and camping knives couldn’t cut butter these days. Can anyone recommend something that sharpens them?

I looked at the Fiskers sharpening tool, any good?

Axes need to be sharpened in a convex grind - a couple of files and a stone are best but you can manage with wet & dry paper. I wrote an explanation many years ago but it might help. I'll post it up

Kiwififer: I'm a big fan of diamond 'stones', I don't use a jig or sharpening system but I have spent a few years practising my hand honing.
I've got one of these that I use a lot of the time.

It can be used in hand as an axe 'puck' as well as a bench stone
