Like jansman, I'm making the most of the distant things, I do feel my longer distance stuff is coming to an end. Though I'm slightly terrified that the trips I've got planned through most of August are going to land me smack in this new wave of covid, after strong avoidance of it

Distance: My mum’s sister died recently. In the East Midlands. Mum lives in Cornwall. Whilst she is still a competent driver at 80, she is not well,and the journey is tough. I attended ,and represented her too. She didn’t have the stamina. However, one thing she did say; The fuel bill ,back and forth,with a week visiting family,would be £311. That was five weeks ago,and prices are higher now.

Oh my god, that price is shocking

Sorry to hear of your aunt, jansman. I hope your mum isn't too badly affected by her bereavement.

My sister and I attended an uncle's funeral last month, driving from near the Channel coast to Buckinghamshire. We didn't even talk about the petrol cost, I just lobbed my sister some money online based on our AirBNB trip in April. I may have under-resourced that MK payment, I'll check. We're also driving to a birthday party at the end of August, a 4 hour drive. I'll keep a close eye on that one.

Diesel is only 3p shy of £2 here now. Given that diesel basically powers the ENTIRE economy,things are not looking good. Here’s a link to cheer you all up

Regarding mum Arzosah, whilst upset at losing her sister,it was a blessed relief. Unfortunately,cancer is all too common within our family ,and it is a wicked disease. Thanks for asking.

Jansman how correct it is a wicked disease and very cruel
So sad to hear you've also had a lot of experience with this ...
Mr GG is incurable now ..but if we had to go to the hospital we'd be stuffed ..the cost of fuel as it is ..and theyre implementing a clean air zone of which 2 hospitals are within that area ..the affordability of actually going to a appointment is zero ...
Due to the cost and the clean air zone the other half has said that he may as well just ..get on with it ..as its too blooming expensive to go to the hospital now along with parking charges ..CAZ and the diesel
My preps this week so far have been stacking coal and logs
Its going to be a long winter .......

Bless you. I hope Mr GG is comfortable. He sounds very pragmatic about the situation. My late step dad had bowel cancer, and after the operation to remove it , he was due 30 rounds of chemotherapy. He did six, and said stuff It! The treatment made him so ill, and the surgeon said that he had made the right choice, as the cancer had spread anyway. It’s wicked and cruel, and visits most families, sadly. We are currently waiting for results from Mrs J’s last examination ( there is an ‘anomaly’ shall we say) but fingers crossed she should know inside 2 weeks.

Let's hope this anomaly is literally just that ... the waiting is awful
The chemo can be absolutly brutal and your step dad did what Mr GG has done ...stuff it .. the side effects too harsh see what I have left.. its incurable.. they would have hoped to make..more time .. hes said no point in more time if I'm lying in bed too poorly to move ! And the more time may only be a couple of months ... he has a plans to watch the footy this winter etc etc ... after last night's yelling at the TV itll be the heart that gives out

He sounds a top bloke! It’s a brave decision, and I salute him for that. When Mrs J had her cancer 3 years ago, she was so lucky that the mastectomy did the job, and no radio or chemotherapy was needed. On the flip side, it’s taken this long for The Duchess to settle down mentally because of body image and the like. It is truly a wicked disease. I sincerely wish for Mr GG to see his football, and to be comfortable.

Can't take the credit for this one Mrs A secured a second hand gas BBQ with full calor patio gas bottle for £40.. BBQ is like new and bottle is full £40 initial deposit on the bottle alone ... Plus a fill @£30! A fill when you think a standard 6kg propane is £25 ISH

That's a total bargain - as you say patio gas is a complete ripoff - like the small campingaz cylinders. Easy enough to simply change the regulator for a sensibly priced cylinder. Always worth having a handful of different regulators when cylinders are scarce though

When it's empty I'll slap it on Facebook for £20 funny you can't get tye smaller 3.8 propane or 4.2kg butane for love nor money yet the gas cage at b&q is full of patio gas can't think why ££££
