Boiling water to make it safe is overkill
Re: Boiling water to make it safe is overkill
Loperamide is a good idea in the EDC kit too. Trying to get home from work with the galloping trots is otherwise impossible/deeply unpleasant whether public transport or private especially if you work any distance from home

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Ha ha! All useful multipurpose stuff but Loperamide was a lot easier to carry on a commuter train.

I carry tissues/TP, compressed coin towels, individually wrapped sanitizer wipes, Imodium instants, hand sanitizer, sometimes baby wipes, sometimes some kind of cream. I might take oral rehydration if I'm away for a few days.

I work in the community in the Highlands so just a shovel for me
Re: Boiling water to make it safe is overkill
Altitude changes the boiling point of water, higher up you are the lower the temp of boiling point but don't worry, nowhere in the UK is it high enough to give you problems. Put your water on to heat and once over about 65c you should be safe to go but I always turn off the heat as it hits a rolling boil.
Good luck and camp craft means I can put my hand on my heart and say I've never had the Jaipuri jitters in fifty years of camping, keep your hands as clean as your water and you'll be fine. Chris Bonington found that really banging on to the Sherpa's the importance of hand hygiene dramatically reduced base camp hot trots.
