Tried to order some paint on line but they won't deliver to the highlands in case it spills in the van and makes a mess, so looks like i'll have to go to town after all :x . I suppose it's one of the prices we pay for living here but I do get a bit weary of the No delivery notices on so many websites

We are prepping for the heat as we are in the area where 40C is likely. Ceiling fan now fitted in bedroom. Mylar emergency blankets are being fitted this weekend in the sun-side windows to reflect the heat. Freezer is full of ice for drinks along with some frozen "hot" water bottles to take to bed & cuddle.
I have also upped the easy access water stores since there is an advised risk to supplies and that could be a killer in this heat
Work have told everyone that it is their choice whether to travel to work. There is good aircon onsite but the travelling coud be a complete nightmare. TFL are advising against travel so I will be staying home with the fan on and my feet in a bowl of cool water while I work.

I was thrilled with the idea of the mylar blankets in the windows - I mean, I have some, I can do it! - but the rest of your preps are really good too. Thanks GillyBee.

Bought a big fan this morning in preparation for the heat so i can sit Mum in front of it and know that she'll be more comfortable over this upcoming heatwave. Picked up a few big bottles of water just in case of supply issues, and will likely get more tomorrow. Lidl had a big power bank in this week so I have one of those and I'll find my smaller ones and get them charged up too. I also picked up an in-ear type of thermometer in Lidl in case the dreaded plague comes my way. Everyone at work is coming down with it and are really poorly. If I was unlucky enough to pass it on to Her Mothership, then I need the in-ear thermometer - she doesn't get on well with mouth ones, and I'm not convinced my forehead one is all that accurate.

The mylar blankets for the windows seem to be effective. We did the first window this afternoon and it has made a noticeable difference. The film lets some light in and we can still see out but light levels are more like twilight. T'other half hates the heat and was happy with the result.

I bought this fishermans stool/bag last year for a festival as I knew I would not be happy standing all day long.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00 ... =UTF8&th=1
It claimed to be rated for heavier weight people which was a concern at the time. Buying again, I get buy the backpack version as having this banging against my hip on a shoulder strap was a nuisance.
It is quite low which could be a problem if you do not find it easy to get up from a chair or the ground.

Google walking frame with seat
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
