I have spent a few hours pickling beetroot as the ones I pickled last year went down a treat. Stocked up on more of the wood wool style fire lighters for the wood burners before they go up in price closer to winter and it was actually cheaper to buy them direct from the manufacturer in Poland than via Amazon. Husband has been busy fitting some deadlocks to the front door at my insistence, it is quite an old wooden one but the lock was old and not secure. We did toy with the idea of a new composite one but at around £2k or more because we have an arched frame we decided not to bother. I am going to order some security film for the glass though.

Well my solar lamp and panel arrived. Sadly quality control was lacking on the lamp, but hopefully they are sending me a replacement. It lights up, is good, but I couldn't get the usb lead in the socket. I did eventually force it in at an angle, but that doesn't inspire confidence. Socket was positioned too close to the ridge that runs round the edge.

The car battery started to fail this week, so that has been replaced and the old one added to the Solar Storage shelf, bringing total batteries to three.
I recognise that tired and faulty batteries might detract from the good one, so I'll be monitoring them closely. Have some older collected stats from the BM2 Monitor, to compare to.

Finally got the latest two solar panels fitted to the flat garage roof, bringing nominal rating of 270Watts. I still need to add my wattmeters in and get them wired up permanently. The panels have been screwed onto wooden battens and then the battens glued down to the rubber roof. I hope I don't regret that. They will be almost impossible to move.

Pickled several jars of beetroots and courgettes. Starting to clear some raised beds.

There’s tons of Rosehips round the back of where I live so after I finish work later today, I think I might be filling a couple of buckets for wine making

Dental appointments for my daughter and I (yaaay at last), stocking up on tinned/frozen potatoes/ veg. Raiding the hedgerows for blackberries, elderberries and hawthorns later. Bought solar powered fairy lights/lanterns. Taxed car. Poor old cat had a UTI infection so got her antibiotics and more special food. I plan to get one of those solar powered charger thingies. Need to stock up on meds as hubby and I have been home with Covid lately.

Car in for service
Stocking up on meds again used nearly all of them having covid
Sourcing wood for burner
And .. not so easy trying to find healthy ish tinned stuff to add to stocks rather than rely on freezer in case we end up with no power ....

Agree gee gee. I need tinned meat and hate spam/chopped pork & tinned chicken. There is only so much corned beef a person can eat.. Get sardines for the husband but I'd rather starve to death than eat that  Even the cat wouldn't touch them
