How do frozen roast and baked spuds work out? Are your roasted spuds baked in lard or similar?Jerseyspud wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 6:38 pm Today we had jacket potato's that teenager made using the oven for ages.
So we did enough for today's dinner, plus extras to freeze. Plus made a tub of roasties up as the oven was on anyway

Agreed. Proper washing and hand washing is vital in my line of work too.diamond lil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 8:19 pm Please don't skimp on hot water for dishes. You get food poisoning that way - I used to work in an infectious diseases hospital and that was one of the things that always came up.

Soap kills bacteria. Water only needs to be luke warm to loosen grease according to this guy*. He says it would need to be too hot to put your hands in to do much more.diamond lil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 8:19 pm Please don't skimp on hot water for dishes. I wash my plates with loads of soap straight after using them. I wet the plate, squirt soap onto my scrubber, then scrub the plate thoroughly, then rinse the soap off.

I’m grateful for the advice but puzzled. My Bosch dishwasher does an Eco wash at 50*. I started using a dishwasher when I realised that they clean more thoroughly than I was doing. I think it’s useful to wipe the items thoroughly first before putting them in.diamond lil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 8:19 pm Please don't skimp on hot water for dishes. Combination of chemicals in the dishwasher detergent not much survives a splash of hydrogen peroxide
Plus the drying cycle heat
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong

Ah ok. ATM I use finish eco tablets. Hydrogen peroxide is useful stuff. The drying cycle on the eco setting seems to be an hour of doing nothing and it works provided you don’t open the door.

We use foil, then some oil and various seasonings. Bake them for about 1.5hours (whilst cooking other things too usually) freeze when cooled downjennyjj01 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:07 pmHow do frozen roast and baked spuds work out? Then when we want tk eat them defrost and microwave and they are lovely

I do find it interesting that a lot of our conversations are about saving energy. This thread is about electric dishwasher issues. Just a thought.

20 to 40p per wash depending on cycle and unit price ... But we only run ours when full and a house of 5 it soon fills .
Factor in the regulator Washing up of breakfast dinner and tea pots and our gas "eco combi boiler" takes an age for the hot water to come through unless you pre plan and hit pre heat in guessing the fuel / water cost are fairly evenly matched
